I the United States, residing at Charleston, in

the county of Goles and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined WVindow- Gleaner, Mop-Holder, &c.; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon. which form a part of this specification.

The drawing is a representation of this invention,and is a perspective view. My invention relates to adevice adapted to be used as a window-cleaner, mop-holder,&c.; and it consistsin the construction and novel combination of parts, as hereinafterdescribed, and pointed out in the claim.

The object of this invention is to provide an improved mop-holder and windowcleaner that may hold separately two articles-such as a mop and b'rushat one and the same time, so that either of the articles held in the mop-head at one time may be used alternately or interchangeably without necessitating the removal of one of said articles to insert the other in place, and also withouthaving to use a separate handle with a holder for the two separate articles, thereby saving the time that would otherwise be expended in making the changes from one to the other of the articles required to be used in a single holder, and also dispensing with separate holders and handles for each of the articles required to be used.

Referring by letter to the accompanying drawing, A designates the slotted body or slotted ferrule, into which the end of the handle of the implement is inserted and se cured in any suitable manner. The head B of the slotted body is slightly enlarged and is provided with two diametrically-opposite diverging integral arms, 0 O, at the outer ends of which arms 0 O are the half-clamps D D, which are made concave on their inner faces in order to present parallel biting-edges E E. The integral arms 0 O are provided with slots F, in which slots F are seated the sliding guides G G of the upper inner movable jaws, H H, these guides G G being made integral with the lower ends of the arms I I of said movablejaws H H. The inner faces of the movable j aws'H H are also made concave in crosssection to form biting-edges, which meet at the biting edges of the stationary jaws when the jaws are closed. The arms 0 G and I I of the stationary jaws and of the movable jaws are provided with apertures J J ,through which the headed threaded bolts K K are passed from the inner faces or sidesof the movable or sliding jaws outwardly through the apertures J of the stationary arms 0 0.

Between the arms 0 I and O 1 the bolts K K are encircled by spiral springsllI M, which tend normally to move the sliding jaws away from the fixed jaws on the arms 0 O. The projecting ends of the threaded bolts K K are provided with thumbnuts NN, by which the movable arms and their integral jaws are drawn or moved toward the stationary jaws to clamp the brush, scraper, or other article designed to be used in place ready for use be tween said jaws, the guides on the lowerends of the arms of the movable jaws being moved in their apertures at the same time that the movablejaws are operated. The thumb-nuts N N serve, also, to hold the brush and scraper or other articles firmly in place until said articles are designedly removed. The guides cause the jaws to always come together true, so that the article between them will be held firmly in place.

A toothed plate may be inserted in thejaws of one side of the holder, and the device can then be used as a cz'trpet'stretcher.

Having described this invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-

A combined window cleaner and mopclamp, consisting of a ferrule, A, having a head, B, the two bifurcated arms 0 G springing therefrom, each arm having formed on it an elongated concave clamp-jaw, bifurcated arms I I, also having a concave clampjaw formed on their upper ends, guides formed on the arms I 1, the adjusting screws through the arms provided with thumb nuts, and springs interposed between the arms, all substantially as described.
