SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 364,129, dated May 31,1887.

To all whom it may concern-.-

Be it known that 1, ROBERT PLATO, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Hat, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description. v

The object of my invention is to provide a cheap and practical folding hat; and the in: vention consists, principally, in forming the brim-wire in curved sections, with inwardly projecting radial arms at the ends of each -section, which arms are held by radial seams of cauvas or other suitable flexible material. The brim B is, by preference, made of two thicknesses of material, and at the outer edge of the brim is placed the four stiffening-wires C. These wires are curved and formed at their ends with the arms (1 cl, which project toward the crown A, as shown clearly in Fig.'

1 The bri m is stitched radially to form seams ff, which retain the arms d in position, and at the same time permit the hat to be folded at the seams, so that the hat may be folded flat, and to assume the shape shown in Fig. 2.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
