A plurality of thread holes is provided around the periphery through which threads can be passed to attach the motif piece to adjacent pieces.
MOTIF PIECE This invention relates to a substantially plane or solid motif piece for knitting together.
Heretofore motif pieces of this kind have been made by knitting parts together by use of embroidering thread, but the trouble is that these means have required not only a great deal of labor and time but a considerable amount of skill, and besides, artisans have been unable either to form concave or convex parts thereon, Moreover, the plane parts are made by embroidery thread by means of knitting.
The object of the present invention is to provide means to remedy these defects of motif pieces of a known type.
With this object in view, the present invention provides substantially plane or solid motif pieces, e.g. synthetic resin, natural leather, artificial leather or textiles cut out into some desired shapes, and a plurality of thread holes are provided in the hem thereof. Moreover, a plurality of thread holes or slits may be provided in the inner part thereof.
According to the present invention making of motif pieces is easy enough for their efiective mass-production and besides motif pieces of exactly the same pattern can be made with far more consistency than by any known method. invention.
Other and the further objects of the present invention will become apparent from the following specification and claims taken together with the accompanying drawings in which is shown the preferred embodiment of the motif according to the present invention;
FIG. 1 is a plan view of a motif piece embodying the present invention;
, FIGS. 2 and 3, are plan views of other embodiments of the present invention;
FlG. 4 is a sectional view of FIG. 1 taken on the line 14; and
FIG. 5 shows a part of cloth made of motif ing the present invention.
ln these drawings reference numeral 11 indicates a motif piece of square shape (FIG. 1), and 12 is a flourish shape (FlG. 2), a diamond shape or the like, with slits or holes 13 for inserting thread or yarn and embroidery therethrough and having convex or concave parts 14 formed thereon. A plurality of motif pieces I] are connected with each other by motif thread passed through thread holes 13 on the hems, as in a known type of motif pieces to make a material cloth.
It is thought that the invention and its advantages will be understood from the foregoing description and it is apparent that various changes may be made in the forms and slits or holes without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention or sacrificing its material advantages, the form hereinbefore described and illustrated in the drawings being merely a preferred embodiment thereof.
Having thus described my invention, what l claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
l. A motif piece, consisting of a single sheet of synthetic resin having a plurality of concave portions extending in at least one direction from the plane of the sheet, at least one of said concave portions being located in the center of the motif piece, said sheet having a plurality of apertures therein around said central concave portion adapted to receive thread therethrough, and a row of a plurality of thread apertures extending along the entire peripheral edge of said sheet for receiving thread to attach the motif piece to other motif pieces.
