Description

Jan. 14, 1969 E. v. BROWN TOILET PAPER DISPENSER INVENIOR I Everette Vernon Brown Filed Sept. 8. 1967 United States Patent Ofiiice 3,421,800 Patented Jan. 14, 1969 1 Claim ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An elongated, vertically disposed box-like receptacle which in use is hung on a wall and forms a holder for a first roll of paper arranged on a removable roller positioned in the extreme upper portion of the receptacle, and in addition, provides a storage compartment for two or more other rolls arranged on their sides and stacked one upon another, parallel to and below said first roll. The receptacle has a first opening extending across the top and a short distance down the front thereof whereby said first roll is accessible for use as needed, and has a second opening in the front adjacent the bottom thereof for removal of said other rolls from the receptacle, one at a time, beginning with the lowermost roll.
This invention relates to a toilet paper dispenser, and it concerns more particularly an elongated, vertically dis posed box-like receptacle which in use is hung on a wall and forms a holder for a first roll of paper arranged on a removable roller positioned in the extreme upper portion of the receptacle, and in addition, provides a storage compartment for two or more other rolls arranged on their sides and stacked one upon another, parallel to and below said first roll.
The receptacle has a first opening extending across the top and a short distance down the front thereof whereby said first roll is accessible for use as needed, and has a second opening in the front adjacent the bottom thereof for removal of said other rolls from the receptacle, one at a time, beginning with the lowermost roll.
The invention will be readily understood by referring to the following description and the accompanying drawing, in which:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a toilet paper dispenser embodying the invention, showing the removable roller in a detached position with a roll of paper, shown in broken lines, thereon, and showing in broken lines other rolls of paper received in a storage compartment therefor below said first mentioned roll;
FIG. 2 is a top plan view showing the roller in place;
FIG. 3 is a side elevational view;
FIG. 4 is a front elevational view; and
FIG. 5 is a sectional plan view taken on the line 5-5 of FIG. 3.
Referring to the drawing, the toilet paper dispenser of the invention includes an elongated, vertically disposed box-like receptacle ashereinafter described, which is designated generally by the nmmeral 1. The receptacle 1, which is generally rectangular, has a back wall 2 and two opposite side walls 3 which are coextensive with its height, a bottom 4, and a partial front wall 5. A pair of holes 6 are provided in the back wall 2 for insertion of screws (not shown) whereby the receptacle 1 is adapted to be suspended from a wall surface.
The receptacle 1 forms a holder for a first roll of paper, indicated by the numeral 7, which as shown is arranged on a removable roller 8 positioned in the extreme upper portion of the receptacle 1. As illustrated, the receptacle 1 also provides a storage compartment for a plurality of four other rolls, indicated by the numerals 9, which are shown arranged on their sides and stacked one upon another, parallel to and below said first roll 7.
The receptacle 1 has a first opening 10 extending across the top and a short distance down the front thereof whereby said first roll 7 is accessible for use as needed, and has a second opening 11 in the front adjacent the bottom thereof for removal of said other rolls 9 from the receptacle 1, one at a time, beginning with the lowermost roll 9.
In use said other rolls 9 are inserted in the receptacle 1 from the top, said first roll 7 and the roller 8 therefor first having been removed.
The receptacle 1 has an upwardly and forwardly inclined lip 12, continuous with the bottom 4, forwardly thereof, for abutting engagement by the lowermost roll 9, to prevent accidental displacement thereof, and has upwardly and forwardly inclined slots 13 in the two opposite side walls 3, forwardly thereof, for insertion of the fingers in removing said lowermost roll 9 from the receptacle 1.
The invention may be modified in various ways without departing from the spirit and scope thereof.
I claim:
1. In a toilet paper dispenser, the combination of an elongated, vertically disposed box-like receptacle having means for suspending it from a wall surface and forming a holder for a first roll of paper arranged on a removable roller positioned in the extreme upper portion of the receptacle, and in addition, providing a storage compartment for two or more other rolls arranged on their sides and stacked one upon another, parallel to and below said first roll, the receptacle having a first opening extending across the top and a short distance down the front thereof whereby said first roll is accessible for use as needed, and having a second opening in the front adjacent the bottom thereof for removal of said other rolls from the receptacle, one at a time, beginning with the lowermost roll, the receptacle having an upwardly and forwardly inclined lip, continuous with the bottom, forwardly thereof, for abutting engagement by the lowermost roll, to prevent accidental displacement thereof, and having upwardly and forwardly inclined slots in two opposite sides, forwardly thereof, for insertion of the fingers in removing said lowermost roll from the receptacle.
