1 Claim. (Cl. 244-455) This invention relates to amusement devices and more particularly to anaerial toy.
It is an object of the present invention to provide an aerial toy that is of completely unique construction, in-
cluding a kite, a string, and a carriage device that is automatically released after it has attained a predetermined freight so as to produce a completely novel effect.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an aerial toy of the above type in which the carriage ineludes a simulated parachute and figured toy which will float to the ground in response to abutment thereof with an adjustable trip device carried by the kite string.
Other objects of the invention are to provide an aerial toy bearing the above objects in mind which is of simple construction, has a minimum number of parts, is inexpensive to manufacture and efiicient in operation.
For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of an aerial toy made in accordance with the present invention in operative use;
Figure 2 is an enlarged fragmentary side elevational view of certain parts of the toy shown in Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a top plan view of the adjustable trip device illustrated in Figure 2; and
Figure 4 is a front elevational view of the carriage member forming another part of the present invention.
Referring now more in detail to the drawing, an aerial toy made in accordance with the present invention is shown to include a kite 12, a string 16 for controlling the kite 12, a carriage assembly 18 rollably supported along the length of the string 16, and an adjustable trip device 14 for automatically detailing the carriage device 18 in response to abutment therewith.
As is more clearly shown in Figure 2 of the drawing, the trip device 14 includes a segmental spheroidal bulbous member 20 having members 22, 24 formed within the interior thereof for engaging with the string 16 at any desired location. Since the string merely threads through the brackets 22, 24, such trip device may be readily attached to the string while the kite is in flight as the string 16 is being payed out.

A parachute 32 having shrouds 34 is secured to a book 36 that is received within an opening 38 at the lower end of the plate 26. A' figured toy 40 supported upon another hook 42 that is carried within an opening 44 adjacent to the mid-section of the plate 26 further adds authenticity to the assembly.
The mid-section of the plate 26 also includes a for- 7 wardly and outwardly flared guide channel 46 that slidably engages with the laterally outwardly extending side of the bulbous'member 14 as it moves along the length of the string in flight. The wind acting against the parachute'32 propels the carriage 16 forwardly along the length of the string toward the trip device 14. As' the but after such engages the trip device, the carriage as-' sembly 13 will float to the ground'in a completely novel and amusing manner.
While various changes may be madein the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claim.
What I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is:
An aerial toy comprising a kite, a string for guiding said kite in flight, a carriage rollably supported upon said string for movement the realong, said carriage including same tapering forwardly and outwardly from its lower end,'said carriage plate having a guide portion outwardly and forwardly flared to ride upon the bulbous trip device I to elevate the carriage and derail it from the string.
