to provide a garment for covering the body and individual extremities, access to the interior of which garment can be had easily, quickly and simply, with a minimum of fastening devices.

It is a further object of the present invention 35 to provide a garment for covering the body and the individual extremities, which garment has a single, elongated opening extending the full length thereof, for access to and from the interior of the garment.

It is a further object of the present invention to provide a garment covering the body and the individual extremities, which garment has a slit extending lengthwise thereof, from the upper center portion of the garment to a point adjacent 45 vided depending from the lower end a lower side end thereof.

Still another object of. the present invention is to provide an article of apparel havinga trunk covering portion and individual leg and arm covering portions, and an opening thereinto extending the full length of the garment, from the top thereof to the bottom of one of the individual leg coverings.

The body encircling component ment is formed of a plurality of l2 oi. the garpanels or see- There is provided .a back panel 40 extending downwardly from collar20 to the region of the waist. Two similarly shaped panels 42, 44 are provided, of irregular outline, secured along their upper side edges to the side of back panel 40, as at 43, 43, and extending around the sides of the garment to the frontal aspect thereof. The side panels are of such width at the upper ends as to meet at the front of the garment in the region of neck band or collar 20, as indicated at 45. As seen in Figures 1 and 2, panels 42, 44 diverge outwardly below collar 20.

A crotch panel 46 is provided, squared off at the back of the garment, as at48, and terminating in an elongated pointed portion 50 at the front of the garment. The squared end 48 of crotch panel 46 and the lower end of back panel. 40 are provided with cooperating snap fasteners 52, 54, whereby the garment may be closed at the rear, or opened by spreading the proximate ends of the back and crotch panels to permit the wearer to defecate or urinate. The side edges of crotch panel 48, at the rear of the garment, are stitched to the edges of panels 42, 44 below the waist of the garment, as indicated at 59, 59.

Below the fold line 49 of crotch 46, the edges of panel 42 are stitched together to form the closed leg 30, at the bottom of which the boot or foot receiving member 34 is secured. The triangular portion of panel 46, at the front of the garment extends upwardly to a point adjacent the neck band or collar 20, and at one side thereof is stitched to side panel 42 at El. The edges of panel 44, above and below fold line 49 of crotch 46 are provided with separable fastener elements 60, 64 extending the full length of panel 44, from the upper central portion of the front of the garment to the foot portion 34 thereof. The free side 41 of crotch panel 46 at the front of the garment is provided with separable fastener elements 64, to form an unbroken and continuous line of fastener elements from the upper central portion of the garment to the foot portion thereof. A fastener engaging slide 10, engaging elements 00, 64, operates to bring the edges of the opening together to close the same, or to permit same to be opened into the position of Figure 2. 1

From the foregoing, it will be seen that merely by actuating slide 10, the garment may be opened and closed easily and quickly. When side panel 44 is separated from the front portion of crotch panel 46, and at leg 32, an infant can be inserted into the garment by putting one leg into portion 30 and the arms into sleeves 14, I4, and disposing the other leg into the open por- 4 i tion 32. The opening into the garment, extending the full length thereof, makes access into the garment a simple mater. The angulation of the opening, from the center at the upper end of the garment, to one side at the lower end, makes it easier to don and remove the garment.

Having described the garment of my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

l. A legged garment of the character described,

comprising a short back panel, a pair of elongated side panels extending substantially the full length of the garment at the front thereof and from below the back panel at the rear thereof, the lower edge portions of each of which side panels are secured together to form the leg components of the garment, and a crotch panel, the back panel extending from the top of the garment to the waist at the rear of the garment with the side edges of the back panel being secured to the upper rear edges of the side panels, the crotch panel extending from the waist at the rear of the garment downwardly, across to the front of the garment, and upwardly, terminating in an elongated triangular member extending substantially up to the neck of the garment at the front thereof, one side of the triangular portion being sewed to the upper front edge of one of the side panels at the front of the garment and above the lower leg on that side of the garment, and a separable fastener connection between the other side of the triangular portion and the other side panel, angled across the front of the body of said garment.

2. A legged garment as in claim 1, wherein one leg is slit, and the slit is provided with a separable fastener connection which is in line with and a continuation of the connection between the said other side of the triangular portion and the said other side panel.
