2 Claims.
This invention relates to a dress construction, and, more particularly, to garments with a special back construction for sports wear.
Broadly, it is an object of y invention o p vide a back construction which permits a great amount of freedom of movement by the wearer without disfigurement of the garment.
A further object of the invention is to provide a back panel which covers a split back without retarding or restricting the movements of the wearer. I
Another object of the invention is to provide a construction which is inexpensive, providing a stretchable back construction which returns the garment to normal position when the wearer is at rest and presents a neat and tailored appearance at all times.
Still a further object of the invention is to provide an expansive back construction which will lengthen the life of the garment because it reduces the stresses and strains upon the garment when the wearer i in vigorous motion. Such a dress construction can be used for garments used in various sports, such as tennis, golf and other sports.
For a fuller understanding of the nature and objects of this invention, reference is had to the following detailed description in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a front view of a dress showing my construction with the back panel in covering position and the strings tied in the front.
Fig. 2 is a back view of the dress shown in Fig. 1 with the back panel covering the split back. construction and tied in the front.
Fig. 3 is a back view showing the loose back panel partly broken away and raised to reveal the split back construction, and
Fig. 4 is a back View showing the back panel in untied position covering the split back.
Referring to the drawings, numeral l represents the main body or blouse portion of the dress having split sleeves II, a collar 12 and a skirt portion iii. The sleeves ll having a slit running from the ends to the shoulder which permit the arms of the wearer to move in any direction without restriction at the same time when the arms are not in motion the sleeves will assume a normal position.
At the upper portion of the back of the blouse Ill there is a yoke I4 below which there are back panels I5-l 5 hemmed vertically at the center so that the hemmed edges are free. A space It is provided along the vertical medial line of the back between panels I5l5. It an be readily seen that any movements of the back or shoulders will create a pull upon the material of the back, but with the vertical split back construction, the panels |5l5 separate at the vertical center enlarging the space [6 so that there is no restriction by the material and thus no binding of the muscles of the wearer. The opening l6 runs from the bottom of the yoke H to the waistline ll.
Depending from the bottom of the yoke 14 there is a loose back panel I'B running to the waistline. Attached to the bottom of panel I8 is a border ribbon I9 having loose ends suliiciently long so that they can be tied at the front or the press in a bow or knot. It should be noted that the side edges of the back panel l8 are free so that during movement the wearer will not be restricted at the same time the split back beneath the panel ill will not be seen. It will thus be seen that a sport dress is provided which will give great freedom of movement to the wearer providing a neat, stylish and tailored garment.
It is obvious that with this basic construction the style of the dress can be changed to provide a multiplicity of designs without departing from the general spirit of the invention.
Iclaim:
1. The combination of a dress with .a blouse, said blouse having a front, back and a yoke portion extending across the top of the back, said back being vertically split along the vertical medial line from the bottom edge of the yoke portion to the bottom of the blouse to provide a permanent opening in the back of the blouse. a back panel secured only along its upper edge to the lower edge of the yoke portion and adapted to completely cover the back of the blouse and conceal the permanent opening in said back, and a waist encircling band carried by the lower free edge portion of the panel for detachably securing the panel at the waist portion against the back of the blouse in an opening concealing position.
2. A garment comprising a front, back, a waist portion, and a yoke portion extending across the 3 top of the back, said back including two panels spaced apart at their inner edges to provide a permanent opening that extends along the vertical medial line of the garment from the bottom edge of the yoke portion to the waist portion of the garment, a back covering member secured only along its upper edge to the lower edge of the yoke portion and adapted to completely cover the back panels and conceal the permanent opening in the ba k of the garment, and waist encircling tie strings extending from the side edges of the back covering member at its lower edge portion for detachably securing said member at the waistpd against the back panels in an opening iioribealihg'position.
