My invention as described herein, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, consists of a hanger, an object of which is to provide means for supporting picture frames or other devices upon a wall.

Another object of my invention is to provide a pair of slidably connected hanger sections, one for attachment to a wall and the other for attachment to an article to be suspended thereby.

A further object of this invention is to provide an adjustable hanger whereby pictures may be hung and then adjusted to a desired vertical position.

Other features and advantages will become more readily apparent from the following description and the accompanying illustrative drawings in which:

In the accompanying drawings, and in the following specification, the same reference characters are used to designate the same parts and elements throughout and in which It], refers to my invention and II, indicates a channel member, the side edges 12 and I3, of which are returned toward one another to provide slideways l4 and I5, for the longitudinal edges l6 and ll, of a removable member I8, which is adapted to be screwed to the back of a picture frame or the like l9, bores and 2!, being provided in the body portion 22, thereof for said screws. The

lower end 23, of said body portion is provided with an inwardly inclined extension 24, which is adapted to slip behind either one of the slightly ofifset tongues 25 and 26, etc., struck from the 2 wall 21, of the member II. The latter member is provided with an aperture 28, in order that the member ll, may be either hung from a hook or secured to the Wall 29, by a nail or screw 30.

From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided a device l8, for permanent attachment to a picture frame which is removably connected to the member I l, permanently or removably attached to a wall. It is obvious that two of these hangers may be attached to opposite sides of a frame or other member to be suspended too heavy to be supported by a single hanger.

It is thought that persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates will be able to obtain a clear understanding of the invention after considering the description in connection with the drawings. Therefore, a more lengthy description is regarded as unnecessary.

Changes in shape, size and rearrangement of details and parts such as come within the purview of the invention claimed may be resorted to, in actual practice, if desired.

Having now described my invention that which I claim as new and desire to procure by Letters Patent is:

In a picture hanging device, a wall bracket, guides extending longitudinally of said bracket, a series of right angular tongues projecting from said wall bracket, means for retaining a picture frame in said bracket and received entirely within the confines of said guides, a flange depending from said retaining means received in locking engagement within selected tongues of said series of right angular tongues.
