1 Claim.
This application is a continuation-in-part of my application Serial No.281,339 for Shuffleboard table and playing top, butcher tables and tables.
This invention particularly relates to a novel combination with the legs of a table for making it possible to support the table in a true horizontal position irrespective of the condition of the floor upon which the table is rested.
More specifically, the invention contemplates the association of a plate attached on the bottom of each table leg and threadedly supporting a screw of a specific design, which in turn is associated with a resting plate, or support in a manner so that the screw may be turned for slightly extending or retracting the operative length of each table leg.
Another object of the invention is the construction of a device as described which is simple and durable and which may be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost. v
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had tothe following description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claim in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.

Fig. 1 is a fragmentary perspective view of a shufileboard table and playing top constructed in accordance with this invention.
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary enlarged vertical sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Fig.1.

The shuffleboard table and playing top, in accordance with this invention, includes a playing top 20 supported by a plurality of legs l6.
Each leg 16 is provided with an adjustment device which includes a plate 25 attached by fastening elements 26 to the bottom of each leg IS. A screw 21' threadedly engages through the plate 25 and engages into a bore 28 formed inwards from the bottom end of the leg [6. This screw has a gripping area 211) intermediate of its ends. At the bottom it is provided with a round head 21a. This round head has a central projecting peg portion 38 which extends downwards through a support plate 29. The peg portion 38 has its bottom end riveted and expanded so as to connect the plate 28 and the head 21a together as a unit. The plateZBf is formed with a socket portion 32' in the shape of a zone of a sphere corresponding with the curvature of the head 21a. The arrangement is such that the screw 21 may be turned and yet be always connected with the plate 29 as a unit.
The support plate 29 is rested in a recess 39 formed in the top of a rubber or other friction and elastic material support member 40. The plate 29' and member 40 have beveled sides for connecting the parts as a unit. This support member 40 has an arched bottom surface 4i and several ribs 42 extended inwards from this bottom surface. The bottom of the support member 4!) acts as asuction cup for gripping the ground. This assists in preventing the shuflleboard table from moving along the ground. due to vibrations.
Theholding action is obtained not only by the' suction cup effect of the support member 40, but also by the fact that a small area of the support member 40, namely the rim area and the ribs 42, engage the ground and hence the frictional resistance will be relatively high.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise construction herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claim.
Having thu described my invention, what I,
claim as new and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
In a table leveling device having a rotative control screw connected with a stationary base plate having bevelled sides, a resilientmaterial friction member mounted across the bottom of said base plate and having side portions ext-end ing over and gripping said bevelled sides, and having an arched bottom face, and ribs on said arched bottom face extending downwards to the plane of the outer rim of said bottom face.
