Description
Jan. 27, 1942. T. POUS Y VALDES HOSESUPPORT Filed March 16, 1940 m Rm w m Y m m 5 0 w ww Patented Jan. 27, 1942 UNITED STES Application March 16, 1940, Serial No. 324,314 In Cuba March 22, 1939 1 Claim. 7 (Cl. 2--313) This invention relates to supports for womens hose.
Womens stockings are now mostly supported by elongated garters or straps, the upper ends of which are sewn to the corset or girdle while their lower ends clamp the upper edge of the stockings. This arrangement is not always satisfactory since it stretches the stocking to a considerable extent, so that it can easilytear or run when the knee is bent. Furthermore, it hinders the movement of legs in walking and may even affect blood circulation.
An object of the present invention is to avoid the described drawbacks and to provide a hose support which is so constructed that it will eliminate the danger of strained bursting threads in the stockings, resulting in tears and runs and will afford the wearer greater freedom of movement and comfort.
Other objects of the present invention will become apparent in the course of the following specification.
The above and other objects of the present invention may be realized through the provision of a hose support consisting of an annular member adapted to embrace the leg of the wearer close to the upper edge of the stocking and provided with a loop or other means connecting the member to the clamp of the garter attached to the corset or girdle.
The invention will appear mor clearly from the following detailed description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing showing by way of example preferred embodiments of the inventive idea.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a perspective View of a hose support manufactured in accordance with the principles of the present invention.
Figure 2 is a section along the line 22 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a perspective View illustrating the manner in which the hose support is worn; and
Figure 4 is a perspective view of a diiferent hose support.
The hose support shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3 of the drawing comprises an annular member 5 which may be elastic and which may be made of cord, metal, ribbon, Celluloid, or any other suitable material.
As shown in Figure 2, the abutting portions of the member 5 are bent away from each other and form flaps 6 and I overlapping the ends 8 and 9 of a loop In which constitutes a clamp holder and which may be made of fabric or any other suitable material, and may have any desired form.
The loop I0 is connected with the member 5 by any suitable clamps II and H2. The abutting ends of the member 5 are connected by another clamp i3.
Figure 3 illustrates the manner in which the described hose support is worn.
The corset M is provided with the usual garters l5 carrying clamps 16. The annular members 5 are placed over the legs of the wearer close to the upper edges l! of the stockings I8. The loops IQ of the members 5 are so located that the clamps :5 may conveniently extend through these loops.
The stockings I8 are thus firmly held by the annular members 5 which in their turn are prevented from sliding downwards by the clamps I It of the corset I4.
A hose supporter of this type will facilitate the movement of the wearer to a considerable extent and will not aifect the gracefulness of walking. The wearer can bend her knees easily without any danger that the stocking will tear.
Figure 4 shows a hose support having an annular member 20 to which three loops 2|, 22, and 23 are attached. Any suitable ornament 24 may be used to cover the place of attachment of the loops 2|, 22 and 23 to the member 20. Each of the three loops may cooperate with a separate clamp of a corset or a single clamp may be inserted through any number of these loops.
It is apparent that the specific illustrations showns above have been given by way of illustration and not by way of limitation and that the structures above described are subject to wide variations and modifications without departing from the scope or intent of the present invention.
What is claimed is:
A hose support, comprising an annular member for embracing a stocking uponthe leg of a wearer, and having abutting flaps extending away from each other, a loop having ends extending between said flaps and the annular member, and means connecting the ends of the loop to said flaps and said annular member.
