-' construction for:aadisp1ay rack or-support for garments andthealike, .that can .bemade ofsolid vortubular material and which can be quicklyassembledand-disassembled in aqsimple and-com venient manner. Anotherobjectsof the invention is to-provide -.-.a; simple. form: ofdisplay' rack-.or. support which "can be constructed either in-miniature, .as atoy for. children,. oras a full size device for. adult. use. :Aiurther object ofthe invention is .to provide in a; supporting rack: a: novel arrangement of. interlockingparts which, when-assembled, will form a rigid support. without resort. to; bracing, and/ or other isecuring. means.
.For a better understanding; of .the invention reference should .bezh ad to the accompanying drawing; wherein there is shown byiway of illustration and .not of I limitation, preferred embodi- ;.=ments thereof.
In;.the;; drawing; "Figure-l is aperspectiveview; of a garment :hanger supporting rack constructed in accordance. with.this :invention,
Figures: 2 and 3 are enlarged fragmentary-views showing details of the support of Figure 1, :Eigure 4 :is; a..;modifi ed form. of.- the support ..shown in Figure l, havingadditional and swing- .able supporting arms thereupon,
:Figure 5 is a furthenmodificationof the-sup- 4 port shown in Figure 1, having additional and r parallel supporting arms, and
yEigurey 6. is.- a detail .of the support shown in q-Figure. 5.
-Asillustrated-in Figure 1, my improved support, .:in:its preferred form, comprises endirames-IU 1-545; and l l,-'which provide respectively the rightz-and (men-131) the loops: l2; and I3 there is respectively provided ajpainof horizontally spaced loops l4 and I5, and attthezupperzends oftheend arms lll'and H :there is also respectively provided vertically spacedloppslfi-and ll. Extending between the 5 end frames hand I l-there-is-a bottom: spacing stayyrod IShaVing-right angledends Hand 20, which are-respectively inserted through the loops M -and.-l5 upontheend framesxlll and; and
amending-between the .upper ends of theend 10 frames l0 and II there is: a topspacing-stay. rod
;-. 2l having right angled ends 22 andr23, which are respectivelytpassed .through .the loops I6 and I! atthelupper ends of the end frames l0 and l I.
With this arrangement it will be seen that the 15 horizontally disposed endsl9 and 20 of the'bottomspacing stay-rod I8 serve tohold the floor engaging portions l2 and I3 ofthe end frames in 1 parallel relation, and :thatthe vertically disposed ends 22 -ands23 ofthe top spacing v stay rod 2| ..will .ser-ve -to maintainfthe end-frames l0 and II in their verticalpositions; sothat should the rack be. intendedas a garmentsupport, garment hang- .ers =24. mayhang therefrom. .The arrangement here. shown will be. particularly .useful in .stores for displaying dresses and the like, as during" sales, wherealarge number ofdressesareusually on.display,,the advantage beingthat when the racks are-not required, they maybe easily disassembled. and stored away ina compact manner 0 In a rack of this character, it is contemplated may be made of solid material, such as heavy wire. In either event it wi1l..be appreciated that the principle ofassembling and'the arrangement .of parts will be identical'in both 1' the full size and the miniature devices.
. As" shown in Figure 2 ,'the upper. loops J 6 and I! upon the end frames HI and l I projectinwardly upon' the, end frames sothat-the ends'22 and'23 of the top spacing-stayil can be eas'ilyinserted therein.
[Upon referring toFigureE :of the drawing, itwill be'noted'thattthe'end frames"! and l l are formed .of a single, piece of rod oritubing, and .thatflthe loops I 4 and "l5iaret formed in spaced relation at the extreme endlof. the wire. or tube,; ,-5 withlone of the loopsfl l. and I5 located substantially centrallyof' thewfloor engaging loops" I2. and l3 uponthe end frames. With thisarrangement ..of. loops. it will be seen thatthe bottom. spacing .stay rod l8 will. be located.immediately-below andin line with the top spacing stay rod 2|. In connection with this detail of the present invention it will be understood that the horizontal loops l4 and I5 may be provided at either side of the center of the loops I2 and I3, or they may be formed in the bottom portion of these loops.
The embodiment of the invention illustrated in Figure 4 of the drawing, comprises, in addition to the above described parts, the provision of additional loops 25 and 26 intermediate the ends of the end frames l0 and II, into which swingable rods 21 having right angled ends 28 are adapted to be supported. With this arrangement the swingable rods 21 may be located in any convenient position to provide supports for additional garments or other articles.
In the embodiment illustrated in Figure 5, the end frames and the top and bottom spacing stays are similar to those above described, and like the embodiment illustrated in Figure 4, the end frames l0 and II of this embodiment have spaced loops 25 between their ends into which a downwardly depending end 29 upon cross arms 30 are adapted to be inserted. When the cross arms 30 are used upon the end frames I0 and II, as shown in this figure of the drawing, they will serve as a support for additional garment supporting rods 31, which will be located below and at opposite sides of the top spacing stay rod 2!.
As shown in Figure 6 of the drawing, the cross arms 30 have horizontally disposed loops 32 at the ends thereof for the ends of the rods 3!, and the middle of these cross arms are folded so as to form the downwardly depending ends 29 intermediate the ends thereof.
With the arrangements above described, it will be understood that by properly proportioning the vertical height of the end frames ID and II and the length of the spacing stay rods 18 and 2|, the device may be adapted to many uses. For example, with the last above described embodiment it is conceivable. that with the end frames [0 and H having a height of approximately four feet (4), the device will provide a convenient and practical towel rack, such as is used in bathrooms and the like.
While I have, for the sake of clearness and in order to disclose my invention sothat the same can be readily understood, described and illustrated specific devices and arrangements, I desire to have it understood that this invention is not limited to the specific means disclosed, but may be embodied in other ways that will suggest themselves to persons skilled in the art. It is believed that this invention is new and it is desired to claim it so that all such changes as come within the scope of the appended claims are to be considered as part of this invention.
