rAJAr/ras Application filed September 16, 1932. Serial No. 633,518.
The present invention relates to pajamas and more particularly to new and useful improvements in beach pajamas and has for its primary object to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a garment of this character embodying a novel construction, c0mbination and arrangement of parts through the medium of which a neat and attractive appearance wil be maintained at all times and damage to upholstery, as in automobiles, and furniture by water wil be prevented when the garment is worn over a wet bathing suit.
Other objects of the invention are to provide a garment of the aforementioned character which will be simple in construction, strong, durable, light in weight and which may be manufactured at low cost.
All of the foregoing and still further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a study of the following specification, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and
I wherein Figure 1 is a View in front elevation of an embodiment of a garment constructed in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2 is a view in rear elevation thereof.
Figure 3 is a detail view in elevation of one of the trouser members.
Figure 4; is a detail view in perspective of the trunk portion of the garment.
Figure 5 is a detail elevational view of the other trouser members.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, it will be seen that the embodiment of the invention which has been illustrated comprises a trunk portion 1 of suitable flexible water-proof material to the top of which a bodice portion 2 of any suitable material and design is stitched, as at 3. The form of the bodice portion 2 which has been illustrated comprises a pair of pieces of material which are formed to provide shoulder straps and arm openings, said pieces being lapped and secured, at their lower portions, to the trunks l.
The reference numeral at designates the trousers members of the garment which are of, suitable flexible water repellent. material.
The bifurcations or leg portions of the trunks l extendinto the upper portions of the trousers members land are stitched thereto,; as at 5. I In thev embodiment of..the invention whichhas been shown, the trousersmelnbers 4 include substantially tapered front and rear extensions 6 whichextend tothe topj ofthe trunkstl and arelsecured thereto The extensions 6, in addition to lending attractiveness to the garment, also co-nstitute strengthening or reinforcing means. The trousers members 4 terminate in cuffs 7 at their lower ends." 5 '7 5' It will thus be seen that a beach pajama has been provided which, because of the ma terials from which the various portions are constructed, will maintain a neat and attractive appearance substantially at all times, and which will prevent damage to upholstery in automobiles and furniture when the wearer sits thereon should the garment be worn over a wet bathing suit. The water-proof trunk portion 1 positively prevents the passage of water or moisture at this point in the garment while the water repellent trousers members 4 constitute drains for the water which may drip from a wet bathing suit over which the garment is being worn.
It is believed that the many advantages of a garment constructed in accordance with the present invention will be readily understood, and although the preferred embodiment of the invention is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.
What is claimed is 1. A beach pajama comprising a trunk portion of flexible, water-proof material, a bodice portion of flexible material secured to the trunk portion, and trousers members of flexible, water repellent material telescopically receiving the legs of the trunk portion and secured to the trunk portion at the ends of the legs and at the waist line of the trunk portion.
2. A beach pajamacomprising a trunk portoo 7 tion, a bodice portion secured at the waist line to the trunks portion, trousers members secured to the leg portions of the trunk portion, said leg portions of the trunk portion extending into the upper portions of the trousers members, and extensions on the front e and real of the pper endsof'the trousers members extending substantially tovthe Waist 47 W line of thettrunk portion and secured thereto.
A'beach pajama comprisin a trunk'pori v .i I I l v I I i 4 tion of flexible, Water-proof material, 'a bod ice portion of flexible material stitched, at
its bottom, to the top of the trunks portion,
trousers members offlexible, water repellent 1 a I a material depending from the leg portions of the trunk portio'n, said leg portions of the trunk portion extending into the upper por- 'tions of the trousers members and being "stitched thereto, and substantially tapered front and rear extensions rising from the upper ends of the trousers members and "ex i tending over the trunks portion to'th'e top thereof and secured thereto.
In testimony whereof We aifix our signatures. v
