Description

June 28, 1932. E PARKER 1,865,040
LINGERIE CLASP Filed Dec. 22, 1930 Patented June' 28, 1932 PATENT OFFICE ALICE E. PARKER, OF VENICE, CALIFORNIA LINGERIE CLASP Application filed December 22, 1930. Serial No. 504,086.
My invention relates to devices for holding shoulder straps of lingerie together on womens dresses or underwear, and has for its object to provide a new and efiicient means for so holding the straps, so that to all outward appearances the wearer has only one strap over her shoulder, instead of two or three.
A further object is to provide a clasp which will be secured to the seam of the dress by a small safety pin so that the straps cannot slide down over the arm making an unsightly appearance.
These objects I accomplish with the device illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which similar numerals and letters of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views and as described in the specification forming a part of this application and pointed is out in the appended claim.
In the drawing in which I have shown the best and most preferred manner of building my invention Figure 1 is a side elevation of the device, parts of the chain left out. Figure 2 is a plan view of the pin. Figure 3 is an edge view of a modified form of a clasp. Figure 4 is a plan view of Figure 3. Figure 5 is a form of pin and clasp using a snap to secure the end of the chain to the pin. Figure 6 is a side elevation of a pin with a hook used to secure the end of the chain and Figure 7 is a plan view of the hook secured in a ring to be secured on the end of the pin.
In the drawing I have shown my device as made with a metal catch or safety pin A having a chain B secured in one end thereof, and having a clasp C secured to the other end of the chain.
The safety pin A is pinned into the shoulder seam of the wearers dress and the clasp C is then placed around the shoulder straps and secured back to the pin. This ties the shoulder straps to the shoulder seam of the dress and holds the straps in place over the shoulder and all together so that to outward appearances there is but one strap over the shoulder.
There are several modified forms of clasps which may be used on one end of the chain to engage the straps.
The form of clasp D shown in Figures 3 and 4, is provided with a ring 1 on one end thereof in which one end of the chain is attached, the other end being secured back to the pin or the clasp may be secured around the shoulder strap.
In Figure 5, I have shown a snap 2 and socket 3 with the socket 3 secured to a pin F and the snap to be secured on the end of the chain G. In Figures 6 and 7, I have shown a pin H with eye 5 secured in one end thereof and with the hook 6 secured on the end of the chain.
Having thus described my invention I desire to secure by Letters Patent and claim:
In a device of the class described the combination of a safety pin formed of a piece of spring wire bent into a hook and loop on one end and a loop in the other end separated by a straight portion, and another straight portion bent back substantially parallel with the first straight portion with the end of the straight portion pointed to pass through fabric and to engage with the hook of the pin; a chain secured to the first loop; and a spring clasp formed of a spring bent into a semicircular portion and an elongated semiovoidal portion with one side of the ovoidal portion cut and lapped over to form the engaging portion, said spring clasp to be engaged with the end of the chain and to engage the second loop of the pin substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have aflixed my sig nature.
ALICE E. PARKER.
