This invention relates to road working machinery, and-has for an object the provision of a power-driven rotary brush adapted to be removably mounted upon the chassis l of a road der or other road workin machine, so t at the machine may optiona ly be used to perform the function for which it was designed, or as a rot brush.
With the foregoing an 'other objects in 10 view which will be made manifest in the following detailed description and specifically pointed out in the appended claims, reference is had to the accompanyin drawings for an illustrative embodiment o the inven- 116 tion, wherein;

In terms of broad inclusion, my invention 35 contem lates a power-driven rotary brush adapt to be -remov ably mounted upon any suitable road working machine, as for example,;upon a road grader. When it is desired to use the road, working machine to perform the function for which the machine was 1primarily designed, the brush is suscepti le to-bemg readily removed; and when it is desired to use the power-driven brush,
it may be mounted in operative position and connected to the motor and the blade, or whatever tool or tools the machine ordinarily carries ma be either withdrawn or' removed so t at the brush may be with out interference from such tools. Or, if it be so desired, the brush and these tools may be employed simultaneously.
For the p as of clearly setti forth my invention, '1 ave shown its pre erred embodiment as being mounted upon a road grader indicated in its entirety at 6. This grader being of the conventional type, is su plied with a scra r blade 7 removabg mounted upon'a mo dboard 8, which is ri wnward 1 carried u on a pair of arms 9 exten mg d b 2 m a turntable 11. The turntable 11 is mounted for rotary movement about a circular member 12 which is fixed against rotary movement but which is capable of vertical adjustment in regard to either or both sides. mounting the circular member 12 upon a lengthof angle iron 13, which is pivotally connected to the chassis 14 oflthe grader 6 at its forward end for vertical movement,
and by supporting the circular member 12 upon each side' by a link b6, each of which may be vertically adjustedbyturning an associated control wheel 17; it being understood that the necessary operative connections between each control wheel 17 and its link 16 are included. Since the structure so far described is well known in the art, I am 1a ing no claim theretjo.
y invention comp ises a rotary brush 21 capable of being removably mounted upon a road grader such as that above described, or other road working machine. The brush 21 is mounted for rotation within a bracket comprising a pair of spaced arms 22, each of Y which comprises a longitudinal section 23 and a transverse flange 24 extending therefrom.
A bolt 26 is adapted to extend through an aperturein each of the flanges 24, and an aperture in the mold board 8 of the road grader whereb the arms 22 may be remov ably positions upon the mold board to extend forward thereof longitudinally of the 22. T e other end-of the countershaft 34 is provided with a beveled gear 38 enmeshed with a beveled gear 39 mounted upon the shaft 41 of the rotary brush 21. Thus it may be seen that the brush 21 may be. rotated by power furnished by the motor 29.
Preferabl the arms 22 are so poeationcd upon the mo d board 8 that. the lower portion of the brush will be positioned lower than the bottom edge of the mold board 8 and higher than the lower edge ofthe blade 7. The purpose of this arrangement is to make it possible to remove the blade 7 from the mold board and then operate the brush2l' with the lower edge of the mold board 8 sufiiciently elevated above the surface being worked, so that it will not interfere with the normal operation of the brush. It may thus be seen that a power-driven rotary brush is provided, and that the man- 161 of mounting the brush is such that it is capable of being adjusted not only in respect to its degree of angularity with the longitudinal axis of the grader, but also is capable of having either or both end-s of the brush adjusted vertically. The former adjustment may be efl'ected by turning the turntable 11 uponthe circular member 12; and the latter adjustment may be effected b operating the proper one of the wheels 1 both adjustments being made in the same manner as when they are being made to the scraper blade of the road grader.
Various changes in the details of construction may be made without departing from the means mounting said brus .and motor upon said chassis, said mounting means being adjustable about a vertical axis to vary the angularity of said brush with respect to the direction of travel of the chassis.

I claim:
1. In a device of the character described, a bracket, a rotary brush mounted for rotation upon said bracket, means for removably mounting said bracket upon the mold board of a road grader, a motor adapted to be mounted on said grader and disconnectible means for operatively connecting said motor to'said brush.

3. In a device of the character described a bracket adapted to be removably secured to the mold board of a road grader, a rotary brush revolubly mounted on said bracket, a motor adapted to be mounted on said mold board, and disconnectible means'for connecting said motor to said brush.
