WILLIAM T. VOSE, OF NEWTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPROVEMENT IN ROSE-SPRINKLERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 166,164, dated July 27, 1875; application filed March 2.4, 1875;
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM T. VosE, of Newton, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvement in Rose-Sprinklers and I do hereby declare the following to be a full and exact description of the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective v1eW, and Fig. 2 is an axial section.
Similar letters of reference denote the same parts.
The object of this invention is to improve the construction of the ordinary rose-sprinkler, so that it can be more readily cleaned than heretofore; to which end the invention consists in combining a bulb or head which is attached to the hose, with an independent reversible perforated plate, and an independent screw-cap or ferule, by means of which the plate can be secured to the head, and reversed when necessary, as I will now proceed to describe.
In the drawings ,A is the enlarged bulb or head of the sprinkler; B is the removable and reversible perforated plate above referred to; and O is an annular screw-cap or rim, which, fitting over the edges of the plate B, screws down uponthe part A, thereby securing the plate B firmly in position. When the holes in the plate B become clogged, or the interior chamber of the sprinkler becomes filled with dirt, the cap 0 can be removed and the parts cleaned; or, if the plate B alone is clogged, it will only be necessary to reverse it when the passage of the Water through it will WILLIAM T.
