Application filed August 4, 1926. Serial No. 27,912.
This invention relates to improvements in hose supporters, and has particular reference to a supporter designed to encircle and be suspended from the hips of the 5 wearen An object of the invention is to provide a.
simple andcommercially practical supporter for use when corsets are not worn and which will effectively support the hose with per- 0 feet comfort to the wearer.
Another object resides in employing two strips of elastic material which are crossed adjacent their ends and held in intersecting relation to form a girdle portion and depending hose attaching portions, the strips being joined at their points of intersection in such manner that the circumference of the girdle portion and lengths of the attaching portions may be varied at will to suit the convenience of the wearer. I
The above and other objects will appear more clearly from the following detail de scription, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, which illustrates a preferred embodiment of the inventive idea.
In the drawing- Figure 1 is a front elevation of the sup porter illustrating its application;
Figure 2 is a fragmentary enlarged plan view thereof;
Figure 3 is a section onthe line 3-3 of Figure 2; and
Figure 4: is a plan view of a connecting device or buckle used in connection with the invention.
The supporter of the present invention provides a substitute for the usual supporters which are attached to corsets and enables the wearer to dispense with the use of corsets, at the same time supporting the hose in an eificient and comfortable manner.
As shown in the drawing, the supporter consists of two elongated strips of material 1 and 2, preferably made of suitable elastic webbing which may be covered with various colored material to impart an artistic appearance to the supporter. The strips 1 and 2 are crossed adjacent their ends to provide two pairs of depending hose attaching portions 3 and are adjustably held at their points of intersection by connectin devices 4 in the form of buckles. Between t 1e points of intersection, the strips 1 and 2 combine to form a girdle portion which encircles and is supported by the hips of the wearer. when the supporter is in position, as" shown in Figinto substantially rectangular form and is provided ad acent to and along each edge thereofwith af slot 5, which is of alength about equal to the width of the strips 1 and 2. In assembling the supporter, the strips may be interconnected. as best shown in Figure 3. For instance, the strip 1 may be passed from one side of the device 4: through two oppositely disposed slots 5 therein with the portion of said strip between said slots overlapping the similar portion of the strip 2 which is likewise passed through the other two opposed slots 5 from the opposite side of said device 4:. lVith said portion of the strip2 disposed upon the inner face of the device, the latter will be prevented from coming into direct contact with the body of the wearer thus avoiding possible irritation, and the arrangement of the strips is such that the device 4 is practically covered so that only small portions thereof will be visible when the supporter is worn.
The strips 1 and 2 are more or less free to pass through the slots in the connecting devices so as to enable the latter to be adjusted along either of said strips. By reason of this, it is possible to position the devices t more or less to the front of the body of the wearer for the purpose of properly locating the portions 3 with respect to the hose to be supported and this may be done without altering the circumference of the girdle portion. being adjusted to different positions along the strips so as to vary the circumference of the girdle portion, this adjustment, at
the same time, changing the length of either one or all of the portions 3. If, after ad justing the girdle portion to the proper size, the portions 3, or any one of them, are found to be too long or too short, the lengths thereof may be further adjusted by means of suitable clasps 6 well known in the art. The extremities of said portions 3 are provided with any well known form of attaching means such as the fasteners 7 by means of which said portions may be attached to the hose.
Also said devices are capable of i lie What is claimed is:
1. A hose supporter including" two strips combined to form a girdle portion capable of encircling the hips of the wearer and to also form two pairs of depending hose atcaching portions, and connecting devices through which said strips are extended, one of said devices being adjustable alon either of said strips to vary the circnln'lierence of said girdle portion and alter the length of one of said attaching p n-tions.
2. A hose supporter including tWo strips crossed adjacent their ends to form a girdle portion capable of encircling the hips oi the wearer, and to also form two pairs oi dopendinghose attaching portions, and connecting devices through which said strips are extended at their points of intersection, each of said devices being movable along either of said strips to vary the circumference oi said girdleportion and si1nnltaneonsly alter the length of one of said attzwhing portions.
3. 3r hose supporter cmnprising only two both said strips to shiftthe positions of said pairs oi atta-iching portions relative to the body of the wearer without altering the circumference of said girdle portion.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature. c
JOSEPH JACOBS.
