' To all 'whom z't 'may eoncem:
Be it known that I', Amm M. MILLER, a citizen of the United States, vand a resident ofthe city and county ofl San Francisco, and 5. State of' California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Nicotine- Absorbent Cigarette Holders, 'of whichthe following is a specification. The present invention relates toimprove- 10 ments 1n means for the elimination o nicotine from tobacco-smoke while on its passage fromthe, burning tobacco to the mouth of the smoker. A principal object of the present. inven- 15 tion is'to provide means -forv the absorption of nicotine from tobacco smoke while' on its passage from lthe burning tobacco to the mouth of the smoker, through a lengthened course of travel for the smoke overm and 10 throug and beneath a largely increased cooling surface, thus affording a cooled smokeroduct freed from nicotine and devoid of leterious matters.
An additional object sought is to provide for an economic use of tobacco, as it permits the consumption of the entire ent, whetherof cigarette 'or other tobacco orm. 30 Though arrangedmore particularly 'th a view to its use as a cigarette holder, `itlis quite obvious that the section adapted to hold the cigarette ma be also utilized as amagazinerdirect for t estorage of a smokecharge.
a art of this spec cation,

Referring more particularly to .the drawings, 1 represents t e cone-shaped sheath, or casing of the holder, in which is removabl secured the absorbent complementa -shape' core 2 provided with a cone-shape? rette end4 a sgiral end to end of t e absorbent core 2, 5 ducts or channels leading from either extremity of the absorbent core 2 and communicating at different oints with'the spiral groove 4, 6 the mout -piece ofthe cigarette-holder, 7 a cigarette, and 8 the extension of the extrem' ity 3 adapted to receive and spread a ciga-'y groove extending from. Y
sheath 1 beyond the labsorbent core 2 and fashionedy end, or it may be so formed as to b e as a magazine for'a tobacco charge. In'recapitulation, it is desiredto particu.- larly stress the important influences-to which the smoke is subjected in its passage through my device, as com ared' with that of the ordmary cigaretteolder. free and length travel along a spira oo've carried by an a 'sorbent element and und-l ed exteriorly by a surface exposed to the air, there must result a contact with extend-l edand enlarged surface areas that notonly robs it of its nicotine by absorptiombut, at the Sametime, -full exposes 1t to'an. aircooled surface in outside --atmos here, wherethrough andwhereby, it is rther deprived of Iitsheat and finally delivered to the smoker as both apurifed and cooled product. With the ordinary cigarette-holder,
utilized and a volatilized nicotme,` with but little chance for any reaching the smoker who inh urning tobacco.
