F. C. PALOSKY AND S. ZIMMERMANN.
'SHADE AND CURTAIN HANGER.
APPLICATION FILED JULY 11. 19:9.
Patented Dec. 2, 1919 3W5 F6. F2: (as/17w I5- Zimmermawz V vrBnnnIoKci rALosKY'AND SIMON VZIMMEBMANN, or PONTIAC. MICHIGAN.
. SHADE AND CURTAIN HANGER.
To an whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, Fmiorcro PA- LOSKY and SIMON ZIMME MANN, citizens of the United States, residing at Pontiac, in the county of Oakland and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shade and Curtain Hangers, of which the following is a specification,
drawings.
' This invention relate to certain improvements in shade'and curtain hangers and it is an object of the invention to provide a novel and improved device of this generalcharacter which is adapted to be fastened to the inner face of a window jamb or thelike so that the wood work surrounding the window is exposed and which is of particular advantagewhen such wood work is of"a high quality. I 7
Another object of the invention is to provide a novel and improved device of this general character Which affords aneffective mounting in the roller of a shade and whlch is also provided with means whereby either a flat curtain rod or a round curtain rod may be readily and effectively supported thereby. I g
The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of our improved shade and curtain hangers whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel features of our invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.
In order that our invention may be better understood, we will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a View in side elevation of a shade and curtain hanger constructed in accordance with an embodiment of our invention.
Fig. 2 is a view in edge elevation of the device as disclosed in Fig. 1, the shank 12 being in section.
Fig. 3 is an enlarged fragmentary sectional view taken substantially on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
In practice two hanger constructed in accordance with an embodiment of our invention are employed but as the same are sub- Specification of Letters Patent.

stantially of duplicate construction it is believed that a detailed description andillustration of onewill sufiice for the purposes of disclosure.
- As herein disclosed a hanger constructed in accordance with an embodiment of our invention comprises a flat plate P of desired configuration and dimensions proreference being had to theaccompanying vided with a pair of spaced openings 1 through which screws or other fastening elements may be directed for anchoring the plate P in desired position and preferably to the inner face of a j amlb of a window or the like. The side marginal portion of the curtain rod of a type generally employed.
. The lower marginal portion of the plate P is providedwith an outstanding fiat arm 4 perpendicularly related to the wing 2 and said arm 4: terminates in an upstanding lug 5. The lug 5 is provided with a notch or opening 6 to receive a mounting of a conventional type as generally engaged with an end of a shade roller.
The upper end portion of the plate P is provided with an upstanding flat arm 7 terminating in an outstanding arm 8 substantially at right angles to the arm 7 The free end portion of the arm 8 is provided with a transversely disposed depression or channel 9 preferably angular in cross section and with which coacts the plate 10 secured to and overlying the arm 8. The plate 10 is provided with achannel 11 also angular in cross section and in register with the depression or channel 9 whereby an opening is afforded to receive an inner end portion of a shank 12, said shank 12 be ing angular in cross section so that the same is held against rotation when in applied position. The outer end portion of the shank 12 is provided with an upstanding finger 14 or the like which is adapted to be disposed through an end portion of a round curtain rod of a well known type. With the use of our improved curtain and shade holder it is possible to support either a flat 7 From the "foregoing" thought to be obvious that a shade, and curtain hanger constructed 1n accordance with our invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facllity with wh ch 1t may he as? sembled and operated and it will; also be] obvlous thatour lnventlon issn sceptlhle'of 1 some change and modification without departing from the principles and spirit thereofand for tliis reasonwe do not wishto be understood as limiting ourselves to the precise arrangenient and formation of the several parts herein shownin carrying out our invention in practice except, as hereinafter claimed.
YVe claim:
l. A combined curtain. and shadeholder comprising a flat plate, a side margin of the plate being continuedby an outstanding fiat arm hav ng 1ts outer extrennty provided with anupstancllng finger, said arm and fin}1 ger being substantially in alinement Withthe description, it is plate, the upper margin of the plate being provided with an upstanding arm substanti ally" in. alinement. therewit termina ing in an outstanding arm in perpendicular relationto-the first named arm, the free end portion of said second named arm being provided with shank engaging means.
