To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALFRED GARTNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Washington, D. 0., have invented. certain new and useful Improvements in Display Devices, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to display devices, and is primarily. intended to be used for post card purposes.

The prime object of the invention is to provide a unique and attractive display device and one which in addition is instructive and productive of encouraging patriotism.

A further object of the invention is to provide a device in which discarded emblems or other similar devices may be converted into an attractive and instructive use.

A still furtherobject of the invention is i to provide a support having thereon a stamp or emblem indicative of a destination, and associated therewith a set, or group of emblems or stamps, each associated with legs or feet, or other means to indicate that the countries, order, etc., represented by the set or group, are moving on, toward, or to the point of destination. V

The invention further aims to provide a display device in which canceled stamps of a set or group of allied countries are provided with legs and feet and are marching on to a country, also represented by a canceled stamp.

The invention also comprehends improvements in the arrangement of parts, and the indications associated therewith to point out a definite purpose.

In the accompanying drawing, the figure represents a face view of a post card, made in accordance with my invention.

1 indicates a card, and in the upper right hand corner is a German stamp 52, and adjacent thereto is an arrow 3, beside which is the inscription On to Berlin.-

In addition to the German stamp, the card is provided with a set or group of stamps of countries allied against Germany, 4 indicating a Russain stamp; 5 the Italian stamp; 6 the French stamp; 7 the English; 8 the United States special delivery stamp; and 9 a Canadian stamp.

Under each stampof the group there is imprinted on the card, legs and feet, as indicated at 12, the pose representing the stamps indicative of course of the country,

as marching toward Berlin, the latter being represented by thestamp in the corner.

The first five starnps of the group,-are arranged each in advance of and in a higher plane than the preceeding stamp, while the last one of the group is associated with the stamp of the United States. This arrangement is indicative of the countries marching onward and upward to Berlin.

Suitable inscriptions may be arranged over the group of stamps, such for instance as stamp, stamp, stamp the boys, are marching, which with the inscription On to Berlin clearly indicates the purpose of the display. V

A card-thus arranged is attractive and educational, and will inspire the patriotic sentiments of the user.

While canceled stamps are preferable, simply as a matter of economy, yet uncanceled stamps can be employed, or the representation of stamps can be printed on the card at the time the legs are printed, this being largely a matter of choice.

While I have specifically shown and. described postage stamps, it is evident emblems, tokens or other devices may be substituted, this depending entirely upon the purpose of the display, and the point in view. It is to be further understood that I may represent the groups of stamps as moving On to Berlin, on automobiles, or common carriers, the essential point being to indicate that the countries are moving toward a definite destination.

The stamps may be arranged in a diiferent order than that shown, but in any event the group must be so located as to indicate that the countries are moving toward or in direction of another country or destination.

What I claim is l. A display device comprising a support provided with a plurality of separately attached emblems, and means printed on the support and associated with each emblem to simulate that the emblems are moving in the same direction toward a designated point.

2. A display device comprising a support provided with a set of emblems, the support having means adjacent each emblem to simulate that the emblems are moving, and an additional emblem provided on the support toward which the emblems of the set appear to be moving.

A display device comprising a support provided with a set of emblems representing one purpose, the support having means adjacent each emblem to simulate that the emblem e sew ng in th Same di ection, and an additional emblem on the support indicative of the purpose designed by the set of emblems and toward which the set of emblems appear to, be moving.
