This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a crokinole cue and one of its objects is the provision of a device of this character, which shall be simple, durable and efficient and which may be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost.

A further object of a device of the above stated character, is the provision of eflicient means of shooting crokinole rings or game pieces about a croklnole board, thus eliminating the danger of players bruising and breaking their nails, which frequently occur in the old method of playing crokinole when the player moves the game piece by hitting it with the fore finger and nail.

A further object of this invention is the provision of a cylindrical casing to receive the cue to provide a guide and a hand hold to the device.

A further and more specific object of this invention is the provision of a cue member having a handle formed on one end thereof and which is connected to the casing that receives the cue member by means of springs to provide means, when the handle has been pulled outwardly from the casing by the operator to return it to the casing under considerable force, thus causing the cue mem 4o ber to drive the game piece or crokinole ring accurately and at great force upon the board.

With these and other objects in view as will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as W111 be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of a crokinole cue constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1, illustrating the one member within the casing, and Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 33 of Fig. 1.

Referring to the drawing in detail, 1 indicates a-cue member, having formed on one end thereof, a handle 2 which may be of any desired formation.

Slidably mounted upon the one member 1 is a cylindrical casing 3, which is of shorter length than the cue member 1 to allow the cue member 1 to project from the end of the casing 3 as illustrated in Fig. 1 when the handle is in engagement with the casing.

The casing 3 is provided with an enlarged or flared end to provide a seat for the handle 2. Secured-to the casing 3 by solder or other suitable fastening means is a pair of oppositely disposed hooks 5 and 6, which hage secured thereto a pair of coil springs 7 an 8.

Secured to each side of the handle 2 is a pair of hooks 9 and 10 by having their attaching ends 11 and 12 driven into the handle 2 and the parallel portions 13 and 14 embedded in the sides of the handle. The free ends of the springs 7 and 8 are secured to the hooks 9 and 10 respectively to provide tension means between the handle 2 and the casing 3. 7

In operation the player rests the casing 3 in one hand and positions it against the game piece to be moved, and pulls upon the handle 2 with the other hand against the tension of the springs. The player then releases the handle 2 and holds the casing 3 permanently to guide the cuemember correctly against the game piece, thus providing a very efficient cue for shooting crokinole game pieces upon a board designed for the purpose.

While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that minor changes in construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
