To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JEROME HOPKINS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, in the county of Bristol and State of ,Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Rubber Glove, of which the following is a specification.

The device forming the subject matter of this application is a hand covering and the invention aims to provide novel means whereby water or other liquid may be supplied to the palm portion of the hand covering for the purpose of moistening a sponge, or for any other similar purpose.

The invention aims to provide novel means whereby a liquid may be conveyed to the palm portion of the hand covering, and to provide novel means for mounting and protecting the pipe or conduit through which the liquid is delivered to the palm portion of the hand covering.

It is within the province of the disclosure to improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that type to which the present invention appertains.

\Vith the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

In carrying out the present invention there is provided a hand covering denoted by the numeral 1 and preferably in the form of a rubber glove of the sort used in hospitals or elsewhere, although, possibly, without jeopardizing the utility of the invention, the glove like form of the covering might be departed from without jeopardizing the utility of the invention. In the palm portion 2 of the covering 1 there is fashioned an opening 3.

The invention contemplates the use of a conduit, ordinarily in the form of a rubber pipe 4. This pipe lies along the inner face of the glove 1 and at its inner end is enlarged to form a conical discharge head 5. The head 5 extends through the opening 3 into the palm of the glove and preferably is formed into a peripheral flange 6 which is cemented or otherwise secured to the extel'lOI surface of the palm portion 2 of the glove about the opening 3 thus affording a water-tight closure. The tube or pipe 4 is housed within a guard strip 40 which may be made of rubber. The strip 40 is formed into side flanges 7 which are cemented or otherwise secured to the body portion of the glove, the strip 40 comprising an end flange 8 cemented or otherwise secured to the inner face of the palm portion 2 of the glove adjacent the opening 3, the other end of the strip '10 being cemented or otherwise secured to the wrist portion of the glove. as shown at 9, the end of the strip 40 being closed as shown at 10, adjacent the wrist of the glove to define an end wall through which the pipe or tube 4 passes. The pro truding end of the pipe or tube 4 is provided with a coupling 20 of any desired sort, adapted to receive a flexible pipe shown at 21, the pipe ordinarily extending along the arm 22 of the operator and being secured thereto adjacent the elbow by a clamp 23 which may be of a resilient, U- shaped construction. At the wrist, the glove 1 may be outwardly extended to form a water deflecting lip 1.4, and if desired, the wrist portion of the glove may be inclosed in a constricting member in the form of a strap or otherwise, the latter being denoted by the numeral 15 and being provided with a buckle 16.

In practical operation. a sponge or other object of a like sort may be held in the palm portion 2 of the glove, water or other liquid being supplied to the sponge through the pipes 4'21 from a continuously flowing source of supply. The device herein disclosed. therefore, is so constructed that it may be employed in hospitals, or during polishing operations, for washing dishes, walls and the like.

Consequently. the pipe 4 may be compressed Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is In a device of the class described, a hand covering having an opening in its palm; a pipe located within the covering and discharging through the opening, the pipe extending along the wrist of the covering upon the palm side of the covering; and a strip peripherally assembled with the covering and housing the pipe; the covering, the strip and the pipe being flexible whereby the pipe may be compressed by wrist pres sure to regulate the flow through the pipe;

and the strip serving to hold the pipe upon the palm side of the covering for wrist compression and constituting a mutual pro tection for the hand of the wearer and-for the pipe.
