GRAIN-BAG.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FREDERICK G. Loos- DON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Davenport, in the county of Lincoln and State of \Vashington, have invented a new and useful Grain-Bag, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in grain bags used to receive grain from a threshing machine; and the objects of my invention are, to provide a bag in which the grain may be temporarily stored until such time as it may be hauled away for permanent storage or for transportation, and from which the grain may be quickly and easily drawn.

I attain these objects by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the bag after it has been filled with grain, together with the supporting device; and Fig. 2 is a detail view of the manner of attaching the bag to the supporting ring.

Similar characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.

Referring to the drawing, 1 represents a platform on which the bag rests, and this platform may be elevated at any convenient distance above the ground, to enable the grain to be readily drawn from the sack, and also to bring the mouth of the sack near enough to the grain spout 2 to receive the grain therefrom.

My improved grain bag is made of any desirable size, preferably of a capacity of from one hundred to five hundred bushels, and is made of canvas or any suitable material of sufficient strength and flexibility.

form, and the body 3 of the bag is held in an extended position, with the mouth of the bag open to receive the grain, by hanging the eyelets 4 on the hooks 5 of the supporting ring 6, which is held at the proper height by the posts 7.

To facilitate the closure of the sack, the upper or top portion 8 may be made of lighter material than the sides and bottom, and is closed and secured in the usual manner or by a cord 9 threaded through the eyelets at.

To provide a means for readily withdrawing the grain from the sack, a spout 10 .is attached thereto, which may be fastened up out of the way when not in use by the hook or ring 11.

When the bag is filled and closed, as a further protection from the elements, a top cover 12 is provided, which is fastened to the sack by the buckles l3.

, When one bag is filled, others may be provided, and in that way any quantity of grain can be stored.

Having thus described my invention, What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- A bag of the class described having a top closure permanently secured thereto, buckles secured to the body of the bag and adjacent the upper edge thereof, and a rectangular supplemental cover of flexible material having its upper corners detachably connected to the buckles, said supplemental cover being adapted to be placed over the top closure as and for the purpose set forth.
