TICKET-HOLDER.
Application filed April 21, 1914.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, NATHAN A. NEIBAUR and CHARLES P. N EIBAUR, citizens of the United States, residing at Salt Lake City, in the county of Salt Lake and State of Utah, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ticket-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to ticket holders and more particularly to a holder or receptacle for car tickets that can be easily carried in the vest pocket of the user. I
The primary object of our invention is to provide an improved holder having novel means associated therewith for the dispensing of tickets carried within the same.
Another object of our invention is to provide an improved resilient means associated with the holder and mounted in such a manner as to facilitate the dispensing of the tickets.
a A further object of our invention is to providean improved ticket holder having a means in connection therewith for the insertion of tickets into the same, the closing means also cooperating with the dispensing means when extracting tickets from the holder.
A still further object of our invention is to provide a holder of the character described that is simple in construction, efiicient in operation, and one that can be manufactured and placed upon the market at a minimum cost.
Other objects as Well as the nature, characteristic features and scope of our invention will be more readily understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claims forming a part of this invention.
Referring to the drawingsz-Figure l is a side elevational view of our invention; Fig. 2 is a top plan view of our invention; Fig. 3 is atop plan view of our invention with the cover removed, showing especially the manner in which tickets are dispensed from the holder;-Fig. 4-. is a sectional View taken on the line 44 of Fig. 1; and Fig. 5 is a longitudinal sectional view of our invention.
Referring more particularly to the drawings wherein similar reference numerals designate like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, we provide a holder or receptacle 1, having a base 2 sol- Specification of Letters Patent.

3 removably preferably of sheet metal, the outer ends of which are provided with longitudinal slots 6 and 7. The blank of sheet metal is now bent into a substantially oval-shaped form in such a manner that the outer longitudinal slot 6 which is somewhatwider than the slot 7, is positioned in substantial alinement with the slot 7 and has the two end portions thereof arranged; in spaced parallel relation with each other to form a housing 8 and a guide-plate 9, the sides between the plate and housing constituting a guide-way. The inner end of the blank is curved to conform to the curved end of the housing and is arranged in spaced relation therewith, the space between the same being a continuation of the guide-way.
For the purpose of facilitating the dispensing of the tickets 10 which are positioned in a somewhat zigzag mannerwithin the housing 8, we have secured to the inner side adjacent the extreme inner end of the blank by means of a fastening device 11, oneend of a flat spring 12, the latter being suitably flexed and bent upon itself approximately intermediate its ends in order that the outer portion of the same lies in a plane substantially parallel with the plane of the inner end of the blank. The outer portion of the spring is enlarged as at 13 and conforms to the contour of the slot 7 to form a suitable yielding supporting surface for the ticket that is being dispensed and holds the same in yielding engagement about the inner surface of the slot 6 greatly facilitates the dispensing of the same and also prevents the accidental displacement of the ticket from the holder.
The operation of our device is as follows :The tickets 10 are folded in a zig- Zag manner and placed within the housing 8 and the outer of the tickets is extended through the guide-way until the outer edge of the same is in substantial alinement with the dispensing opening 5 of the holder. The cover is then placed upon the holder so that serves as a substantial cutting edge for this purpose.
From the above description relative to the spring member, for the purpose of reducing the cost of manufacture of the same, it will be obvious that the spring 12 can be formed integral with the blank, thus eliminating the formation of two elements, namely, the separate construction of the spring and the fastening device.
From the above description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings it will be noted that we have provided a ticket holder that is simple in construction comprising a few parts that can be easily and cheaply manufactured and when manufactured can be placed upon the market and sold at a minimum cost.
It will be understood that the above description and accompanying drawings comprehend only the general and preferred embodiment of our invention and that various minor changes in detail of-construction, proportion and' arrangement of the parts may be made within the scope of the appended claims and without sacrificing any of the advantages of our invention.
Having thus fully described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is l. A ticket holder including a housing, the housing having a slot therein, a guidecover for said housing, a guide-plate provided in said housing, said housing and said guide-plate providedwlth ahning slots, and
ya yielding supporting element in said housing beneath said slots cooperating with the slots for facilitating the dispensing of tickets from the housing through the guide way between the'housing and guide-plate.
3. A ticket holder including a blank of sheet metal provided with slots adjacent the outer ends thereof the blank being bent to form a housing and a guide-plate, said slots being arranged in substantial alinement, the
outer of said slots being slightly wider than the other, a base for said housing, a removable cover for said housing cooperating with the guide-plate for permitting the passage of tickets through the guide-way, and a leaf spring mounted on the interior of the housing adjacent the inner of said slots and arranged in alinement with the sides of the same for facilitating the dispensing of tickets from the housing.
In testimony whereof we affix our sign tures in presence of two witnesses.
