RECEPTACLE FOR BANDAGE-ROLLS, GAUZE, AND COTTON-WOOL.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented J an. 2,1912.
Application filed September 27, 1911. Serial No. 651,647.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that We, ELOY CARABIAS Yuan: and FRANCISCO DEL COLLADO, both citizens of the Republic of Mexico, and residents of Mexico, Mexico, have made a certain new and useful Invention 1n Receptacles for Bandage-Rolls, Game, and Cot- .ton-Wool; and we declare the following to inventlon with the cover separated from the receptacle. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the modification with the cover in place.
The invention has relation to certain new and useful improvements in cases or containers designed primarily for the inclosure of rolls of aseptic gauze, cotton wool, or other bandage material, having for its ob ject to enable the bandage to be unwound from the roll without unnecessary handling and to inclose and protect the roll to preserve its aseptic or clean character.
The invention consists in the novel construction and combinations of parts, as hereinafter set forth.
In the accompanying drawings illustrating the invention, Figs. 1 and 2 illustrate the preferred form of the invention, and Figs. 3 and a modification.
In this preferred form of the invention, the letter C, designates. a receptacle, Which is preferably cylindrical, but may be of other suitable form, wherein is placed the bandage roll B,'said receptacle being closed at one end E, which may be fixed or'm ovable, open at its opposite end, and provided with longitudinal spring tongues or fingers G, G, in line with and. preferably forming a part of the side wall of the receptacle, and separated from the side wall proper and fromeach other by longitudinal open-end slots orintervalsD, D, D.
The bandage roll is placed in the recepacleth rough the open end thereof, and the and, portion H, of the roll passed out through the slot D, over the spring finger Gr, in through the slot D, under the spring finger G, and out again through the slot D, the insertion of the material of the bandage through these slots and over and under the spring fingers being facilitated by the openend character of the slots and the consequent freedom of the fingers. The cover for the receptacle is shown at A, and is also preferably cylindrical to correspond with the form of the receptacle over which it closely fits, this cover being long enough to contact at its end with the flange E, at the bottom of the receptacle. The cover is open at one end, closed at its opposite end, and is provided with a longitudinal open-end slot D, in its side Wall, designed to be brought in line with the slot D of the receptacle. The end portion H, of the inclosed bandage roll extends outward through both slots D and D, which are of about the same length, in position to be readily grasped by the fingers of the hand in unwinding the bandage from the roll. The spring fingers or tongues are designed to exercise a friction grip or tension hold upon the end portion ll, of the roll, which is caused to take a turn about the fingers, keeping said end portion always g1 position extending through the slots D, come smaller, and although it will be looser in its case, will be unwound in an even and proper manner owing to the hold of the spring fingers thereupon.
In the modification of the invention, shown in Fig. 4, the receptacle is substantially the same as in the preferred form, but
instead of using a cover of about the same length as the receptacle, a shorter cover 1, is employed, having a short flange J, provided with a slot K, in its side wall. This modified cover is placed over the open end portion of receptacle with its narrow flange engaging the free end portion of the side wall of the receptacle, and its slot K in line with the slot D.
Having thusdescribed our invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A rece tacle. for bandage and other rolls, consistlng of avliollow cylindrical body having a plurality of longitudinal slots and a spring finger located between said slots and forming a part of the side wall of said body, said finger having at one end connection with said body and being capable of When the roll is unwound, it will beyielding under pressure of, and exerting a spring pressure upon, the bandage material.
2. A receptacle for bandage and other rolls, consisting of a hollow cylindrical body 5 having a plurality of longitudinal open-end slots and spring fingers located between said slots, said fingers forming a part of the side Wall of said body, having at one end connection with said body, and being capa- 10 ble of yielding under pressure of, and exerting a spring pressure upon, the bandage material.
3. A receptacle for bandage and other 7 rolls, consisting of a hollow cylindrical body 1-5 having a plurality of longitudinal open-end slots and spring fingers located between said slots, said fingers forming a part of the side wall of said body, having at one end con nection with said body, and being ":pable of yielding under pressure of, and exerting 20 a spring pressure upon, the bandage material, and a removable hollow cylindrical cover having an open-end slot capable of registration with one of the slots of said body.
In testimony whereof we aflix our signatures, in presence of two witnesses.
