NITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
. Specification of Letter-Blatant.- Application filed September 28, 1911).Se'rh11l'0. 588,477. i
To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, ARTHUR B.;K1.nrN- HANS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Easton, in, the county of Northampton, State of Pennsylvania, have'invented certain'new and useful Improvements in 7 Roof Structures and I do hereby declare adapted especially for skylights, green the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make anduse the same.
This invention 'relates' to roof structures,
houses, hot-beds and other structures having glass or other transparent roofs, and. may
also be adapted for tile,- slate or similarroofs. I
' The object of the invention is to provide a simple, inexpensive, convenient and efiicient means for supporting the'glass, tile or other roofing members of a structure. f
With the above and other'objects in view the invention consists in the details of con-- struction' and inthe arran ement and combinatlon of parts as 'wi be hereinafter more fully described and. particularly pointed outgin the appended claim.

Referring to the drawings, the main members of the roof construction therein illustrated consists of bars 10 for supporting the sheets or members 11, of glass, the bars 10 are constructed from sheet'metal bent so as to have a.U-shaped cross section. Theside edges of the bars -10 are eachbent outwardly to form seats 12 and lru on which rest the edges of the roof mem rs 11; Passing through the sides of the bar 11' above the seats 12 and 13 is a pin Mada ted to cooperate with a looking. device orholding the roof members 11 in place. This lockin device is formed from (a single strand 0 metal 15 which is'bent centrally to form "1' -S 8 6d ortion overlies the U-shape mem r 10 transversely of the'lat- The ends of this strand are then bent at substantially right angles to the U-shaped portion to form arms 17 and, 18. the invention the, edges of adjacent glass panes will overlap each other as shown in .ig. 2. The" lower edge of each pane being manner shown. In applying the fastenin device it is positioned to the rear of one 0 over ying the U-shaped bar. The device is then moved toward the pins 14.1ying forward thereof-so that the arms 1- ass under the respective ends of said pin. ear'the termination of this movement of the fastening device the ends of the ms 14" will engage respective arms 17 an ls'light' extent further movement-of the desiliencyofjthe arms-17 and 18 will allow the tions 15 :the downwardly bent outer 'ends' lower ed positesi es of the U-shaped member.1(). 7
It will be apparent that the construction of a roof in the manner just described is acpe t n pane of glass.
7 While the invention is described primarily i: Patented Aug. 15, 1911.
In constructing a roof in accordance with d of the bent arms 17' and 18 engage the' of roof members disposed on op-,

What is claimed'is: In a roof structure for green houses, sky
-l' hts, etc., the combination of a bar formed 0 sheet metal and havinga U-shaped cross section the sides of said-bar being bent outwardly to form seats for glass plates or other roof 'members, a transverse -pin extending through the U-shaped portion of U-shaped portion to form arms disposed longitudinally of the bar the inner ends of said arms 'bein provided with corresponding downwar y and u wardl curved portions and the outer 'en 8; of t e arms device pressed y the latter during their movement;
