Abstract

The apparatus comprises securing units which each comprise a supporting device 4 for the upper jaw of a split hog-head and the associated skull portion as well as a supporting device 5 for the lower jaw of the split hog-head in question. The upper jaw supporting device and the lower supporting device are mutually turnably connected by means of a hinge 15 and comprise securing means 6, 26 and 11, 33, respectively for securing the portions in question of the hog-head adjacent the snout thereof. The lower jaw supporting device furthermore comprises an activating means 16 for activating the turning of the lower jaw supporting device relative to the upper jaw supporting device. This apparatus permits an easy and quick picking off of the meat from a split hog-head, during which procedure the lower jaw is broken off through activation of the activating means. <IMAGE>
