Abstract
1285459 Valves ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AB 15 Dec 1969 [16 Dec 1968] 60983/69 Heading F2V [Also in Divisions G1 and H1] A valve is operated by electrodynamic repulsion. The movable valve member 30, in the form of a sleeve, carries a copper ring 36 which lies adjacent to a fixed coil 37. To operate the valve a capacitor is discharged into the coil 37; the ring 36 is repelled and sleeve 30 moves to the left into engagement with seat 33. This allows compressed gas from conduit 7 to enter the central bore of the valve which is connected to the operator of a high voltage electric switch (not shown). After a delay the compressed gas fills a space 40 driving a piston 39 to the right to reset the valve. In the position shown the gas pressure retains the sleeve 30 due to the difference A 3 -A 2 in diameters. In the other position the sleeve is retained due to the difference A 2 -A 1 in diameters. A spring 38 assists in resetting the valve. A more complicated version of the valve is described (Fig. 3, not shown) with rearranged gas channels and in other embodiments (Figs. 4, 5, not shown) the valve is reset by a second electrodynamic device. The capacitors are discharged into the coils by means of photothyristors (11, 12) (Fig. 1, not shown) triggered remotely by flashing lamps (15, 16).
