Abstract

Disclosed is a method for performing and/or ensuring accurate temperature readings of an animal of interest (200). The method comprises detecting (S100) an animal of interest (200) and performing (S110) an area temperature reading (210) of the animal of interest (200). The method further comprises obtaining (S120) an image (220) of the animal of interest (200) from the same point in time as the temperature reading (210) and based on the image (220) and the temperature reading (210), determining (S130) if the area temperature reading (210) is accurate.

Claims (12)

11 CLAIIVIS
1. A method for ensuring accurate temperature readings of an animal of interest (200), comprising:detecting (S100) an animal of interest (200); performing (S110) an area temperature reading (210) of the animal of interest(200); obtaining (S120) an image (220) of the animal of interest (200) from the samepoint in time as the temperature reading (210); based on the image (220) and the temperature reading (210), determining (S130)if the area temperature reading (210) is accurate.
2. The method according to claim 1, wherein performing the temperature readingof the animal of interest comprises measuring the temperature of a predetermined area when the animal of interest is within the predetermined area.
3. The method according to claim 1 or 2, wherein determining if the areatemperature reading is accurate comprises determining if any part of the area thearea temperature reading was performed on, was not occupied by the animal of interest at the time of the area temperature reading.
4. The method according to any one of claims 1 to 3, further comprising: outputting a signal to indicate whether the area temperature reading was accurate or not.
5. The method according to any one of claims 1 to 4, further comprising determining an accuracy value for the temperature reading.

A system for ensuring accurate temperature readings of an animal of interest(200), comprising: an area temperature reading device (110); 12 an image obtaining device (120);processing circuitry (603); and a memory (604), said memory (604) containing instructions executabie by said processing circuitry (603), whereby said system is operative for:detecting an animal of interest (200);performing an area temperature reading (210) of the animal of interest (200); obtaining an image (220) of the animal of interest (200) from the same point in time as the temperature reading (210); based on the image (220) and the temperature reading (210), determining if the area temperature reading (210) is accurate.
7. The system according to claim 6, wherein performing the temperature readingof the animal of interest comprises measuring the temperature of a predetermined area when the animal of interest is within the predetermined area.
8. The system according to any one of claims 6 or 7, wherein determining if thearea temperature reading is accurate comprises determining if any part of the areathe area temperature reading was performed on, was not occupied by the animal of interest at the time of the area temperature reading.
9. The system according to any one of claims 6 to 8, wherein the system is further operative for: outputting a signal to indicate whether the area temperature reading was accurate or not.
10. The system according to any one of claims 6 to 9, wherein the system is further operative for determining an accuracy value for the temperature reading.
