A PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF L-AMINO ACIDS OR 5'-INOSINIC ACID BY BACTERIAL FERMENTATION, BEING AN IMPROVEMENT OVER PROCESSES PREVIOUSLY DISCLOSED IN PUBLISHED UNEXAMINED JAPANESE PATENT APPLICATION NOS. 49-134896 AND 59-216593, WHICH COMPRISES CULTURING L-AMINO ACID-PRODUCING BACTERIA OR 5'-INOSINIC ACID-PRODUCING BACTERIA IN CONVENTIONALLY KNOWN MEDIA FOR PRODUCING L-AMINO ACIDS SUITABLE FOR L-AMINO ACID-PRODUCING BACTERIA AND CONVENTIONALLY KNOWN MEDIA FOR PRODUCING 5'-INOSINIC ACID SUITABLE FOR 5'-INOSINIC ACID-PRODUCING BACTERIA, WHEREIN THERE IS ALSO PRESENT AT LEAST ONE SUBSTANCE SELECTED FROM THE GROUP CONSISTING OF N-METHYLGLYCINE, N,N-DIMETHYLGLYCINE, N,N,N-TRIMETHYLGLYCINE AND [2-HYDROXYETHYL]-TRIMETHYL AMMONIUM FOR PRODUCING L-AMINO ACIDS OR 5'-INOSINIC ACID, AND THEREAFTER HARVESTING THE PRODUCT.
