Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the structural deformation of fuel assemblies by providing regions where the fuel assemblies constructed by using channel boxes having different irradiation deformation rates are disposed. CONSTITUTION:The fuel assemblies A1 are disposed in the high-conversion region in the central part of a reactor core and the fuel assemblies B1 are disposed in the burner region in the peripheral part of the core. The channel boxes 4a, 4a' to be used for the assemblies A1, B1 are made of different materials to change the irradiation deformation rates of the channel boxes. The diametral bulge of the side faces of the box 4a by elastic strain is reduced to about half the diametral bulge of the side faces of the box 4a' if the boxes 4a, 4a' are respectively made of a stainless steel and zirconium alloy. In addition, the diametral bulges of the side faces of both the boxes 4a, 4a' are both decreased within the permissible threshold.
