Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the operating efficiency of a smelting reduction furnace and to suppress the fluctuation in the amt. of the exhaust gas by inserting lances from the upper apertures into the furnace, tilting the furnace body and tapping molten metal while supplying oxygen or powder thereto. CONSTITUTION:The smelting reduction furnace 1 of horizontal cylindrical shape is mounted on rollers 13a, 13b at its tilting rockers 12a, 12b and is so constructed that the furnace can be rotated by rotary supporting mechanisms 2. The top blowing lances 4 are inserted into the furnace from the broad apertures 5 opened in the upper part of the furnace body 1 and the oxygen powder, etc., are supplied into the furnace through the lances from above the bath surface. Gas, powder, etc., are simultaneously supplied through tuyeres 3 from below the bath surface to smelt and reduce ore by a carbonaceous material. The smelting reduction is continuously operated by continuing the blowing of oxygen, etc., without removing the above-mentioned lances 4 at the time of rotating and tilting the furnace body 1 and tapping the molten metal from the tap hole bulging from the cylindrical part. The operating efficiency of the smelting reduction furnace is thus improved and the miniaturization of the equipments is enabled.
