Abstract
PURPOSE:To aim at enhancing the machining time by turning on a switch mechanism in an electric charge discharge section so as to establish connection to the resistance side which is grounded, during change over from high current density pulses for removing a skin into low current density pulses for enhancing the surface roughness. CONSTITUTION:During the preceding stage of a finishing process, if low current density pulses for enhancing the surface roughness are applied between electrodes 2, 3 so as to carry out the finishing process, switch mechanisms 35-1 through 35-3 in an electric charge discharge section 31 are turned off, and a plurality of discharge switches are turned on and off so as to allow capacitors to discharge in such a condition that the workpiece 2 side is energized. During this process, if skin removing pulses are intermittently fed, capacitors which are charged to a voltage which gives high current density are allowed to discharge. In this case, in order to perform change-over into the low current density pulses for enhancing the surface roughness, a charge voltage is set for that, and a switch mechanism 36 is turned on to energize the resistor 34 side so as to ground electric charge for discharging in a short time. When a predetermined charge voltage is obtained, the switch mechanism 34 is turned off. Thus, it is possible to shorten the machining time.
