Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an ink jet recording head which is easily machined and firm as well as excellent in durability, by laminating substrates one upon another each made of a composite material composed of a hard fibrous material and a resin by the use of a resin bonding agent. CONSTITUTION:A recording head is constructed by laminating a plurality of substrates 10, 11, 12 one upon another by the use of a resin bonding agent. Each of the substrates 10, 11, 12 is made of a composite material composed of a hard fibrous material, such as glass fiber or carbon fiber, and a resin material, such as an epoxy resin. The substrates 10, 11, 12 are machined as desired; (e.g., the substrate 10 is formed with an ink inlet bore 13 and bores 14, 15 for mounting an air inlet pipe or a detachable stopper, the substrate 11 is formed with bores 17, 18 which respectively correspond to the bores 14, 15 and are slightly larger than the bores 14, 15 and is further provided with a hollow cylinder 16 defining an ink chamber such that the cylinder 16 corresponds to the bore 13, and the substrate 12 is formed with an oval bore 21 such that the bore 21 defines an air chamber and an air layer).

Conventional configurations and their problems Various systems have been proposed for inkjet recording devices, but here we will explain a system known from Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 57-120452 as an example. The inkjet recording device described in JP-A-57-120452 is shown. In the figure, air discharge port 1 and ink discharge port 2 are installed on two pages facing each other, and air is created by the gap between the member in which air discharge port 1 is perforated and the member in which ink discharge port 2 is perforated. Air flows through the layer 6 through the annular air chamber 6, and the air flows out from the air outlet 1 while making a sharp bend near the air outlet 1 or the ink outlet 2.

This is because when the inkjet recording device is not driven, the air pressure near the ink ejection port 2 caused by the air flow and the pressure of the ink inside the ink ejection port 2 are approximately equal, and the meniscus of ink generated at the ink ejection port 2 remains stationary. This is to make it hang down.

An electrode 3 and an electrode 4 are provided on the surface of the air discharge port 1 and the back surface of the ink discharge port 2, respectively. When a potential difference is provided between the electrode 3 and the electrode 4, an electrostatic force generated by this potential difference is generated at the ink discharge port 2. A 3 base ink mesh is stretched in the direction of the air outlet 1. In the space from the ink discharge port 2 to the air discharge port 1, a rapid change in pressure gradient occurs due to the air flow, so when the ink meniscus at the ink discharge port 2 is stretched beyond a certain length, it is rapidly accelerated and the air It flies from the discharge port 1.

The inkjet recording device shown in FIG. 1 operates according to the configuration and principle described above, but the head portion of the inkjet recording device shown in FIG. 1 has a complicated structure, especially the ink chamber 7 and the annular air chamber 6. It is difficult to machine the shape from an integral member, and this difficulty increases at an accelerating rate as the size of the head portion becomes smaller.

For this reason, conventionally, it has been considered to manufacture an inkjet recording head by laminating a plurality of plates. In this case, materials such as metals such as stainless steel or glass are used,
They have been integrated by bonding with adhesives or by metal bonding, but when adhesives are used, they tend to have poor adhesion and easily peel off, or can be damaged due to differences in thermal expansion coefficients. However, when metal bonding was used, large-scale equipment was required, and the materials softened because they were bonded at high temperatures.

Inkjet recording heads with this type of structure contain a resin such as epoxy resin in the 6-beam composite material, so the use of a resin adhesive makes them extremely strong and unaffected by temperature changes. An inkjet recording head can be realized. Since composite materials contain hard materials such as carbon and glass, the material itself has sufficient strength, and since it is a fibrous hard material, it has good workability and can be easily processed into flat plates. Further, the present invention is suitable for cases where the body of the inkjet recording head needs to be made of an insulating material because it uses electric field force, such as the inkjet recording head shown in FIG. A strong inkjet recording head can be easily assembled.
