Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the performance of a tire by making a side wall section more uniform by reducing frequency of occurrence of troubles after vulcanization, by pulling up bent-back section of the side wall section automatically by the centrifugal force alone. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrically semi-finished green tire by the first-stage forming process is attached to a flange F of a second-stage forming machine M and inflated into a toroidal shape by compressed air. While maintaining it in that condition, a belt-and-tread-constituting member 4 is attached to it, and it is tightly attached to a carcass member 1 by a stitcher roll SR. Then, a main shaft of a forming machine M is turned at ultra-high speed, and bent-back sections b of a side wall member 3 are automatically pulled up toward shoulders of tread by the centrifugal force. After each of the bent-back sections (b) have been completely pulled up, the side wall member 3 is tightly adhered to the side surface of the tire by the stitcher roll SR.
