Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform recording/reproducing and monitoring with a single optical system by such constitution wherein the light transmitting through the fine pores on a recording medium is received with a photodetector and is made into a monitoring output for recording through a threshold circuit by a selection switch. CONSTITUTION:If a writing laser beam 3 is focused on a recording medium 1 by an optical system 10, a hole 1a is formed. The light transmitted therethrough is made incident to a photodetector 6, the output whereof is fed via a switch 11 to a threshold circuit 13, by which an output level is discriminated; thereafter, it is supplied as a monitoring output to a reproducing output terminal 14. At the reproducing, on the other hand, a laser beam 5 for read out is irradiated onto the medium 1 by the optical system 10, and the output of the photodetector 6 by the light transmitted through the fine hole 1a is applied to the terminal 14 through the switch 11 connected to the contact (a). Thereby, the recording/reproducing and monitoring at the recording are made possible by the single optical system.
