Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst for preparing high purity hydrogen by reducing a catalyst prepared by adding Rh to an oxide of at least one metal selected from a group of Mo, W, V, U, Fe and Ni in a reductive gas. CONSTITUTION:To at least one or more of an oxide selected from a group of MoO3, WO3, V2O5, U3O3, Fe2O3, NiO, nitrate, chloride, carbonyl or an organic salt of Rh is added to obtain the catalyst. The obtained catalyst is reduced in a reductive gas and, thereafter, subjected to contact reaction with steam to prepare high purity hydrogen. An addition amount of Rh against Mo or the like is pref. 0.05-5wt% and, further, the aforementioned oxide and Rh can be used by supporting the same on a carrier such as alumina, silica, titania, silicon carbide or the like.
