Abstract

PURPOSE:To periodically calibrate a seismometer and prevent trouble and deterioration of sensitivity of the seismometer, by a method wherein the seismometer is vibrated by means of telecontrol from an earthquake observation center. CONSTITUTION:A vibrational pattern signal is transmitted from an observation center side 2 by means of telecontrol through a control panel 10, a telecontrol transmitter 11, a telemeter transmitter 6 and the like. Said signal is received and demodulated by a wireless machine 6, a telecontrol receiver 13 and the like on a seismometer side 1. Then, according to a given vibrational pattern, a seismometer 15 is vibrated through a pushing lever controller 14. The output of the seismometer 15 thereby is transmitted to the center side 2 by means of telecontrol in the similar manner. By said constitution, periodical calibration of each seismometer is performed in the observation center. Accordingly, trouble and sensitivity deterioration or the like resulting from change with age or the like of a seismometer are prevented.
