Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the connection of respective parts and to obtain a small-sized and thin display element of high reliability by forming >=2 pieces of liquid crystal display panels, electronic circuits operating these, batteries and switch mechanisms on one sheet of polymer film which is used in common as a substrate. CONSTITUTION:For example, a polymer film substrate 1 is bent along a polygonal line 2, and a liquid crystal material is sandwiched and sealed hermetically with a shaded part (a), whereby a liquid crystal display panel 4 is formed. It is bent along a polygonal line 5, and a battery material 6 is sandwiched in a part (b) shown by multiple dots, whereby a battery 7 is constituted. It is bent along a polygonal line 8 and a switch mechanism part 9 is constituted at the part (c) shown by diagonal lines and alternate long and short dash lines. The panel 4 uses one of the substrate 1 as an upper substrate 1b and the other as a lower substrate 1q, and the substrates 1p, 1q are formed with transparent electrodes and are subjected to an orientation treatment. The battery 7 is formed by sealing the battery material 6 hermetically between the electrode cans 1s, 1t consisting of the bustrate 1. The switch mechanism part 9 is formed by providing a switch plate 10 consisting of the substrate 1 and a counter electrode via a spacer and mounting an electronic part 11 and an electronic circuit 12 on the substrate 1c of the same plane as that of the plate 10.
