Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect a contact point between a work and a tool by detecting the instant that the pulse interval in a pulse train from position detectors of a feed drive spindle exceeds a certain reference value determined by the feed speed. CONSTITUTION:Signals 34 from position detectors 19, 20 fitted to the feed drive spindle 5a, 6a are fed into a processing circuit of a contact detecting section 9 through lines 21, 23, and subsequent pulse train signals 35 after the process are fed into a pulse counter 31. Here, the signals 35 decide a borrow output signal 37 based on the relationship between clock signals 36 from a clock generator 33 and a certain reference set value 39 determined by the feed speed. The borrow output signal 37 causes a permission gate 32 to generate a contact detecting signal 38 between a tool and a work.
