Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a print head from making a gap at the joint of a character when it is printing enlarged characters, etc. by making an arrangement so that the print head shifts a sheet of paper by such an amount that is slightly less than a theoretical value when it starts a new line. CONSTITUTION:The upper half of a character is printed by the first printing run of a print head 8 whereby wire 1 prints a line of black circle 11, wire 2 prints a line of black circle 12 and similarly wires 3-7 print lines of black circles 13-17 respectively. Next, a sheet of paper is shifted in the direction of an arrow 10 by an amount of (6XP+P') 29. At this time, P' 28 is set smaller than P26. After that, the lower half of the character is printed by the next printing run of the print head 8 whereby the wire 1 prints a line of white circle 18, the wire 2 prints a line of white circle 19 and similarly wires 3-7 print lines of white circles 20-24 respecively. Consequently dots are printed to slightly overlap each other at the central portion of the character since the gap between black circle 17 and white circle 18 is P'<P and by this arrangement, an ugly gap is prevented from being generated at the central joint of the character.
