Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an invariably stable bicolor image by providing a potential sensor which measures the surface potential of a photoreceptor right after an exposure part, and controlling scanning light so that the surface of the photoreceptor has an intermediate potential by irradiating the surface with the scanning light uniformly right before the start of printing. CONSTITUTION:Right after a photoreceptor 2 is rotates for the start of printing, the surface of the photoreceptor 2 is irradiated uniformly with laser light from a semiconductor laser 5 and the surface potential at this time is inputted through a sensor 16 to a controller 17 to compares an input with a target voltage level V2 with the measured potential, thereby performing control so that the measured potential is equal to the voltage level V2. When the larser light scans a no- character part 30, the surface potential is adjusted to the V2, but when it scans a black character A28, an optical output is set to 0 and the surface potential is held at the V1; when it scans on a red character B29, the optical output is increased and the surface potential is set to a V3, forming electrostatic latent images 28' and 29' on the photoreceptor 2.
