Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an image forming material capable of forming a high-contrast image, by providing a photosensitive layer conraining a photocurable diazo resin and a polymer having quaternary nitrogen or phosphorus, and a colored mask on a support.
CONSTITUTION: A dye or a pigment is dispersed, mixed, or dissolved into a binder to form a colored mask layer on a support, and a photosensitive layer containing a photocurable diazo resin compound and a polymer having quaternary N or P in the main chain or side chains is provided on the mask layer. As said polymer, cationic polyelectrolytes, such as polymers having monomer units of ionene type, methacryloylalkylammonium, vinylbenzylammonium, etc. are exemplified. This image forming material is imagewise exposed and developed with an aqueous solvent. An image suitable for use in a lithographic printing original is obtained.
