Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce directly at low cost a paste sol giving excellent molded articles, by adding a plasticizer to a paste vinyl chloride resin latex to transfer said paste resin into the plasticizer phase, and separating a water phase.
CONSTITUTION: A plasticizer such as dibutyl phthalate or tricresyl phosphate is added directly to a paste vinyl chloride resin latex such as a latex produced from vinyl chloride or vinyl chloride and a comonomer copolymerizable therewith by a conventional emulsion polymn. or fine suspension polymn. method. The mixture is stirred. The paste resin migrates toward the plasticizer. Water is separated and two layers are formed. The plasticizer layer is recovered, whereby a paste sol can be easily obtd. In this way, the paste sol can be produced directly from a latex after the polymn. of vinyl chloride without the need of a spray drying stage and a crushing stage.
