Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the spring back of flanges and to improve dimensional accuracy in closed rolling by constituting a caliber with upper and lower horizontal rolls, and adjusting the axial direction of the upper and lower horizontal rolls with right and left vertical rolls. CONSTITUTION:A caliber 3 is formed by combining upper and lower horizontal rolls 1, 2, and a kal clearance (g) is taken between upper and lower roll sleeves 6, 7. On the other hand, right and left vertical rolls 8, 9 are disposed on both side faces of the sleeves 6, 7, and these are so arranged as to attain DELTAV<g-deltaV when the space between the rolls 6, 7 is defined as DELTAV, and the spring quantity thereof as deltaV. When hot steel 10 is passed through the caliber 3 in this state and is rolld, the steel 10 deforms to exert reaction upon the rolls 1, 2, then the rolls 1, 2 try to deform but the displacement in the axial direction of the rolls 1, 2 is regulated by the rolls 8, 9, whereby the mill spring is kept extremely low and the rolling in conformity roughly with the caliber 3 is accomplished.
