PURPOSE:To obtain an optical correlation processing device where a hologram storage element is unnecessary, by constituting a joint conversion type correlator based on the joint Fourier conversion pattern of a reference picture including a required target and the coherent picture of a picture to be correlated. CONSTITUTION:The picture from a coherent picture input device 15 which supplies a reference picture 13 including a required target 12 and a newly inputted picture 14 to be correlated to a processing system adjacently to each other becomes a joint Fiurier pattern by a Fourier conversion lens 8 and is stored in an optical plane image storage element 16 such as a liquid crystal as a voltage distribution. Its stored contents are read out as a light intensity distribution through a photodetector 7 based on the rotation of the polarization axis corresponding to the voltage distribution by the electrooptic effect due to the reflection from the reflective film of the element 16 corresponding to the incidence of a linearly polarized luminous flux due to a coherent light source 4, a collimator lens 5, a beam splitter 6, etc. Thus, an optical correlation processing device is obtained which determines two-dimensional coefficients of correlation easily and surely in real time without the hologram by a reverse Fourier conversion lens 10.
