Abstract

PURPOSE:A microorganism in Escherichia containing a plasmid in which a deoxyribonucleic acid carrying genetic information concerning the production of L- glutamic acid by Escherichia microorganism is built is cultured to produce L- glutamic acid in high efficiency. CONSTITUTION:A micdoorganism in Escherichia having a plasmid in which the above deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is bulit, preferably DNA carrying the genetic information concerning the production of L-glutamic acid, which has been obtained from a mutant resisting lysine analogs, is cultured. The cultivation is done in the same way as in the conventional one, that is, a usual culture medium containing carbon source, nitrogen source, minerals, when necessary, small amounts of organic nutrients such as aminoacids or vitamins is employed. The cultivation is aerobically effected under adjustment in pH to an appropriate value and continued until the accumulation of L-glutamic acid stops. The accumulated L-gultamic acid in the culture medium is collected by a usual method.
