Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a brass alloy for a heat resistant member with improved oxidation resistance at high temp. by specifying the Al and Fe contents of a brass alloy composition and adding a small amount of Ni and Si.
CONSTITUTION: This brass alloy consists of, by wt., 55W70% Cu, 1.0W5.0% Al, 0.1W3.0% Ni, 0.1W2.0% Fe, 0.5W1.5% Si and the balance Zn. By this composition this alloy is provided with enhanced oxidation resistance at high temp. in comparison with an ordinary bronze material, and the oxidation resistance is about equal to that of aluminum bronze. This alloy is more inexpensive than aluminum bronze, is heated at a lower temp., and has superior forgeability, so it is used as a material for a heat resistant member, etc.
