Abstract
PURPOSE:To widen a measurement range of a flux passing through a window of an iron core by a method wherein a common secondary coil is wound round two iron cores which are arranged adjacent to each other forming respective independent magnetic circuit and have each different magnetic permeability. CONSTITUTION:Iron cores 5, 6 which are formed into an annular shape with magnetic material having respective different magnetic permeability are placed side by side in coupling holding a space 7 between them. And common secondary coil 8 is wound round both iron cores 5 and 6. A current of an electric power system to be monitored is run penetrating through the window 9 of these iron cores 5, 6. The material of the iron core 5 is made of a material having high magnetic permeability in a small current range for example such as permalloy silicon steel etc. and the material of the iron core 6 is made of a material which has a low magnetic permeability, however, has a high saturation flux density in a large current range such as permendur. With this, a quick rise is obtained in a small current range and a linear characteristic is obtained in a high tension current range thus, making a current sensor applicable for a wide range of current fields available.
