Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the resistance to liquid leakage and lengthen the preservation time of a nonaqueous-electrolyte battery by using a sealing compound which is made of a pitch added with a given amount of either a nondrying mineral oil or a nondrying plant oil. CONSTITUTION:A lithium negative-electrode 5 is subjected to pressure welding to be connected to a sealing case 1 which also serves as a negative terminal. A separator 6 and a molded positive mixture 4 which is made of graphite fluoride or the like are placed on the negative electrode 5, and the case 1 is charged with a nonaqueous electrolyte 8. Next, a sealing ring 3 is interposed between the sealing plate 1 and a battery case 2 which also serves as a positive terminal to hermetically seal the battery, and the whole constitutes a nonaqueous-electrolyte battery. At this point, a sealing agent 9a with pliability and adhesiveness is laid both on the surface 7 of the sealing ring 3 which touches the positive case 2 and the surface 7' of the sealing ring 3 which touches the sealing plate 1. The sealing agent 9a consists of a pitch which is added with 5-20wt% of either a nondrying mineral oil or a nondrying plant oil.
