Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a means for burning solids at high performance and of simple construction by carrying out thermal decomposition processes in fluidized layers and making use of a fact that char and ash included in the product gases due to the thermal decomposition become fine particles. CONSTITUTION:Raw materials such as city refuse, sludge, etc., are supplied from a material feeding device 1 to a fluidized layer thermal decomposition furnace 2, a part of them is burnt in fluidized layers 3 and the rest of them is thereby heated and thermally decomposed. Air enters from a gas entrance 4 into a gas chamber 5, passes through a gas diffuse plate 6, fluidizes sand and serves to burn a part of the materials. Char and combustible gases produced by the thermal decomposition and ash and combustion exhaust gases generated by the partical combustion all go out via a free boad 7 at the top of a tower from a decomposition furnace outlet 8 and are sucked and accelerated in an air ejector 9 by pressurized air supplied by a blower 10, the gas mixture of air and the gases is forced to the tangential direction of a cyclone combustion furnace 11 at high speeds and strong swirling flow in the direction of an arrow mark 12 is generated.
